  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Apple Carplay On 2015 Genesis

I get it. Everyone has things they like more or less than the next owner. I don't find any problems with the nav but I also do not use it religiously. I drive to work and back and only really need it when I am heading to a golf course I am not familiar with in the summer. I could see someone who drives for a living needing a more expansive navigation, or just someone who uses it a lot.
To me, the in-car NAV is great...IF you use the Google Search function through Bluelink. The in-car NAV voice recognition is virtually unusable!

The thing I'm most looking forward to in AA (with full recognition that this might be something I have to get in my next car) is the ability to listen to and respond to text messages in a hands-free manner.

You have that already - but only if you use an iPhone...

+1 Which is another reason why I'd like to see Android Auto to eliminate the need to pay $100/year for a limited service. I'd rather pay $100/year for Android Auto if that were the choice.

After I sent Ricky my car information, I sent this email:

"Good afternoon,

I have heard that the issue lies in those of us who has the larger NAV screen systems and not wanting to release it to those who don't have the Ultimate's which makes good business sense. Is this the case?

Sincerely,
Jeff Jones"

Rickys response:

"Hi Jeff,

Glad you love your Genesis, Montecito Blue is my favorite color :) We named it after the beautiful Montecito area of Santa Barbara County here in California.

Regarding what you've heard about the NAV systems, it's unfortunately more complex than that. I am optimistic that we are getting close to finalizing the situation for Genesis soon.

Best Regards,
Ricky"

I think they truly want this as much as we do and are working towards that goal. It is nice that you can email them and actually get a response. I have sent emails and letters to Ford & Honda in the past and never got a response. Hyundai cares.

This car is awesome and not having Apple Car Play will not diminish this fact. The issue I have is that it was brought up before the car came out that it would be coming and we don't have it.

Agree completely on your last paragraph. I wonder if the solution is everyone getting ACP/AA or (based on his "complex" remark) they'll offer some incentive like free Bluelink because it's never coming.

...Just tells me Ricky is lying as everyone knows that Empire State Gray is the best looking color... so he's just telling you what he thinks you want to hear on Carplay too :D

Let's go to the fan vote....

Montecito Blue and Empire State Gray are a respectable second, but second nonetheless :D

I heard Apple Carplay is coming out real soon......but only for the Montecito blue cars.

My dealer told me the same thing. :D

As for the white ones, after the last snowfall they all disappeared for some strange reason.

To be fair, I've only seen a couple Montecito Blue's on the road, but I've never been able to get a good look at one because they're always in my rear view mirror :D

You need to turn your review mirror back around the right way then :D

Well, I've got the Parisian Gray which is fine. But all would be so much better with a nav system upgrade to Car Play by Apple. I tried to wait until this was available, but had to pull the trigger last year. The dealer story that Car Play would be available helped make that decision.

I have read the upgrade is available on other Hyundai vehicles - or is supposed to be available. I've got the upgraded nav system with the larger screen, so it sounds like Car Play will be available at some point. I hope so!

One can hope, but I wouldn't hold your breath. Sounds like some sort of announcement could be coming within the next few months. My guess is they are going to say "sorry, but we couldn't get AA or ACP configured with the 2015/16 Genesis. Here's a free year of BlueLink for the inconvenience."

I hope I'm wrong b/c I would really like to have Android Auto!

I would not hold my breath for any inconvenience compensation for a feature never officially date committed nor listed as standard equipment on the car.

Much of the hype came from the automotive press and then followed with constant moving goal posts. One would be best to assume the worse and realize that new tech will never be on time and is in reality outdated the moment it is released when the next big think is already being discussed.
