  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I probably can guess the answer here but:

When my radar cruise slows me to compensate for someone going slower than me in front, do my brake lights show the person behind me that I'm slowing?

As an aside, I can't believe the number of "idiot drivers" :mad:who will come roaring up behind me, pass me and then pull into my lane and go slower than I'm going (I've been on cruise the whole time so my speed is constant).
One of the main reasons I traded my 2010 Premium for the 2015 Tech!!

At least on the 2012, you can see little brake lights light up on the dashboard display when the cruise is actually applying the brakes, and not just coasting.

I was wondering about the same thing, how can I find out if the lights coming on for slowing down with SCC , only way to do that, if ask someone from my friend or somebody I know, to drive behind me and let him see, otherwise there is no way to find out.
Also wasn't sure if my break lights are one when I use the automatic brake hold, but it was easy to find out, I just used it and asked my wife to take a look , turns out that the brake lights are on. May be can try to put some kind of light deflector to the brake lights on the top of the car, or use it at night time and hope that if they come on, to see reflection at the car behind me.
I hate those as well, they pass you and then slow down and you need to either drive faster or stuck behind him. Usually on freeways I keep 1 stripe distance to avoid this kind of situation. The one stripe distance works well for me, forget about using 4 , you will be constantly cut off.

Depends if the slow down is gradual such as removing your foot from the gas then no they do not come on just like if you were driving. If the car actually needs to put on the brakes because compression braking is not enough then yes the lights come on.

One time my wife was following me home. Used the hands free to call her and have her tell me when the brake lights were coming on under adaptive cruise control. Thankfully the answer is: not as often as the car slows down. When it feels like a gentle tug the lights don't come on. When it has to shed more than ~5mph in a short amount of time, of course the lights come on.

I did not have the tech package on my older genny, does anyone who had both (or anyone who has a 2015) know if the dashboard display shows braking like amartz mentioned the 2012 did?

It doesn't show on my Ultimate 2015.
