  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

best car no one is buying

I don't like to see a lot of them. I love exclusivity!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I was just in Ft Myers/Bonita Springs and saw a bunch of them. It was cool to see them on the road but I don't see them where I live in NY. I like that i don't see them much and I do see a ton of MB, BMW, Audi, and Acura's everywhere. I feel like I am in the know and original. (whether or not that is actually true)

It IS true. The same can be said for original Lexus LS owners years ago...

Like others have mentioned - exclusivity is very nice - but it's also important for these vehicles to be getting sold as there's no future for them without that happening...

The sedan numbers, while impressive compared to same time last year when G1 sales were obviously ebbing, are still small in the scheme of things. The actual numbers are also somewhat elusive, as the sedan is often combined with the coupe numbers and Hyundais own reporting seems to be loose. Both the BMW 5 Series and MB E-class appear to have each sold twice as many as the Genesis sedan YTD.

The nos. aren't elusive - that are out there from 3d party sources.

For the 1st Q, Hyundai sold 6,656 of the Genesis sedan; don't anyone coming close to the 5 Series and E Class anytime soon (however, Kia will be launching the production version of the GT concept and if they get it right, I can see the GT do over 20k in sales - which would bring the H/K midsize entrants together close to BMW and MB).

And for the Canadian market, the Genesis not only outsells the likes of the A6 and GS in multiples, it is also currently outselling the 5 Series.

The Infiniti Q50 sold almost twice as many and as a reference point, the Chevy Corvette sold about 2,000 more cars in the first three months of 2015.

Yes, but the Q50, while larger than the norm, is Infiniti's entry-level/compact offering (Hyundai is in the process of developing a RWD sedan slotting underneath the Genesis).

The Corvette is the Corvette and really an apples to oranges comparison.

There were a lot of naysayers re Hyundai entering the luxury sedan market, much less selling under a non-lux brand.

Think achieving the 3rd spot in sales is a pretty good result (and even better in Canada).

They are out there, but can vary - even Hyundai's own released numbers are different in different reports. Also need to take out coupe numbers.

I used those as perspective, since the OP was about not seeing many Genesis on the road - the Vette is an example - don't see that many of them, but they interestingly out sold the Genny.

The results have been good for the new model, I'm happy - just was not sure what class the Genesis in the third spot - what other cars where in that class?

I spoke with my dealership today and in normal polite chit chat I asked how sales were going with the Genesis. He said quite well but I was still the sole 5.0 vehicle sold at this dealership. Heck, I ordered mine around May last year. That being said, the 5.0 AWD goes for $9,000 more up here due to the added features this model get and can only be had on the 5.0.

I'm not seeing many of them in my area. Those that I see are Tech or Ultimate. I have a Signature. I now regret not getting Tech or Ultimate.

Don't feel too bad. You're driving a very impressive car as it is...

Just saw my 1st 2nd Gen a few minutes ago DT. Mpls. Black V6. I've had my Genesis over 6 years and I probably have only seen 20 Genesis sedans since their introduction.

I guess it's safe to say almost nobody cares for the Genesis in Minnesota.

HOWEVER... Now that there's all wheel drive - I bet that'll change soon...

I just bought one in SW Michigan, the Lake Effect Snow Capital of the World. I am excited to see how it does in the winter. I traded in an Outback, that was a trooper in the snow.

Excellent question in this thread. I wondered the same thing since I received over 6K off of the MSRP and have not seen any on the road.

I live in Northern Virginia, very close to Washington DC. I saw a couple Genni's before I bought mine, but haven't seen one in the 10 days I have had mine.

I do see a number of 14 Genni's and at lease 10 '15 Equus's and 2 K900's (The Equus's I see have diplomatic plates so I think those belong to the SK embassy employees). I thought I would see more 15 Genni's in my area since I live in an area with a very high Korean-American population.

I love having a car that no one else has. I get asked about the car a lot. My only regret is not getting the sig package. I just wanted cooled seats but didn't want the whole package just for that!

I'm loving all the compliments, attention and random stares I get around town. ;)

Start an introduction thread and post a few pictures of your Genesis. :)

I've only seen two in my area, and one of those had out-of-state dealer plates. I saw one at night, and the rear lights turned my head. There are still several Genesises (Genesi?) sitting out front at both local dealers.

I think in part the Genesis is designed to help sell other Hyundai models and change the overall impression of the brand. Even though I went to the dealership knowing the exact car I wanted to drive, they still showed me the Azera after my first test drive. I was impressed, and even a little surprised, at the quality of the entire Hyundai lineup. I wonder how many potential Genesis buyers opt instead for a well-equipped Sonata or Azera.

It's not the Azera - less than 2,000 have been sold through the first quarter.

Raising the price of the Genesis certainly didn't help give the Azera a "spot in the lineup" in 2015.

That car is a goner.

I tried to look at Azera's in Houston just out of curiosity. The dealer had 1 in stock. That's right 1.

I check inventory in Texas for the exterior / interior color my wife was interested in and there were 4 in Texas. That's it. Nice car, but price overlaps a lot with high end Sonata and bare-bones Genesis.

The dealers I talked to just had not ordered any - at all.

In my opinion, the Azera/Grandeur (the KDM name of the Azera) are kept around to have an answer for the Lexus ES, and to keep assembly-line parity between the US and Korean Sonata plants (Sonata and Azera/Grandeur are made on the same line). You see quite a few Grandeurs over there on the road.

Why buy the Azera when you can have the Kia Cadenza? I think that's what happened. The Cadenza, essentially the same car, is SO much nicer...

Yeah, I agree. I hope the Azera gets an upgrade to line-up more closely with the Kia Cadenza Especially interior-wise. The Cadenza is amazing inside. Much nicer, in my opinion, than a Lexus ES350...

And, yes - as mentioned - the Genesis (and Equus) is there to bring people into dealerships. Hyundai probably makes more on cars like the Sonata and Azera as they're really giving a HELL of a lot of car for the money with the Genesis and Equus...
