In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hi Guys,

So far I've gone through two LED sets of lights for my license plate within 7 months and was wondering what the best lights would be? I had to replace them back to the OEM for now. I purchased one set from DiodeDynamics and the other from another website.

i have these installed http://www.v-leds.com/6K-WHITE-CANBUS-PROOF-p9594395-1-2.html they are extremely bright and havent had any problems with them so far.
sorry for the crappy pics...

31 mm (if I remember right) festoons, that have 6 downfacing LEDs will work fine. I do not particularly WANT to make my license plate light up in a super brilliant manner. For me, simply not necessary. I replaced mine with 31mm festoons, 6 led, and it more than adequately lights the plate. :p

Yeah I think mine keep blowing out since moisture keeps getting inside after it rains. Do you think this is why?

When I installed it the first time I had to disconnect the rubber between the two parts, I'm thinking that's why moisture is getting inside the lights now.

I might have to go to the dealership and have them install new light holders.
Also noticed the black piece is very loose now too that holds the actual light.

You might entertain the idea of utilizing 3M Strip Calk

to produce your own pliable, water tight gasket or seal around the light receptacle. This stuff is used in body shops and for sealing purposes...I've utilized it for a water tight seal that lasted for nearly 7 years before needing to be redone on an early projector retrofit job I did on a w124 400e.

If you wanted to get a bit more serious, you could opt for

and forgo the baking portion of the procedure outlined on their product page.

Although each would give you way more product than you would need to seal those holders/give you a tighter fit...there are endless uses for each, especially when you own a house or do modding on another vehicle.

I installed the new license plate lights, and bought some black silicone to put on the clear plastic around the outline so it won't block the light at all. Hopefully this works, I bought a back up pair in case it fails, then I'll just have the dealership install a whole new part for them and install the back up pair of led lights.

No. Unless you have been washing the car or running it thru a car wash that uses high pressure spray (which could force water into the housings), there is no way water could 'flow' against gravity into the light housings. If you have the "lenses" or covers screwed down tight, it should not leak. If water is getting in some other way, you have a problem.
