  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Best way to convert to led DRL's for a 2015 Genesis 3.8

Oh, interesting. I guess mine doesn't.
Maybe, or it could be you should buy just a little bit more expensive light. The ones i've bought cost at least $35 each

That could be. Sometimes when you think the car is the issue, it turns out to be the accessory, and vice versa. I'm using a wireless CarPlay adapter in my car and it works pretty well, but it's often slow or needs unplugging and replugging in order to work. I assumed that all of this less-than-optimal behavior was the fault of the CarPlay adapter, but I just took my car in to have several recalls addressed and was given an Elantra loaner in which my wireless CarPlay adapter is much better behaved. So at least some of the issues I was attributing to the adapter seem in fact to be born of my car's lack of finesse in dealing with the adapter.

And, as has happened before on this site, none of the links in my previous post were put there by me. I have not used and certainly do not endorse any of the items linked to in that post; this site did that by itself, which I think is a very bad thing for it to do. It makes the poster look like they're promoting things they've never even heard of; someone who didn't know any better might hold the author of the post responsible if they used one of the items thus linked to and it blew up their car.

The actual device I have and have been referring to in my posts is this one.

These bulbs are LED and are plug and play:

Hey, are these truly plug and play? Like I can literally take out the old halogen and put these LEDs in place?

Also, are they still going strong for you and do they ever hyperflash? (One guy said his hyperflash if they’re on for a couple min).

Also, is it amber when turn signal and white when DRL?

Thanks!

Yep, I simply removed the old bulbs and installed these led ones. I haven't had any issues with them since I installed them many months ago, and they have never hyperflashed. I've done the DRL mod so that the full leds are bright, and these aren't engaged.

Thanks for the reply! Are these only amber? And I can simply take out the halogens and put the LEDs in without having to mod anything?

Sure thing :) Yep they are only amber and yes I didn't have to modify anything, I just swapped the old ones out with these.

Maybe I'll do that if I really want my automatic lights back. Right now I just use the parking lights during the day after my bulbs burnt out and a socket burnt recently.

Yeah, i did it because I had a burned out bulb as soon as I got the car, saw these posted in another thread I think and bought them, have been solid since and I run 'on' all the time now.

They were a little discolored but not black/burned out..
Thanks for the reply! I will definitely do this mod if I ever move to CA as running your parking lights during the day is illegal there.

So those bulbs you linked have the resistors built in so that they don't hyperflash?

Also, how bright are they compared to the halogen 2357? Would nice to be able to see a picture or video of them in action.

Also in the description it says not fit for 2015 Genesis sedean.

Yes they have the resistors built in and they do fit the 2015 DH just fine :)

I think I have a picture of one lit up flashing, I'll check.dh66.webp

Thanks! Are these eating through your sockets as well I wonder? Because I know with the standard halogen bulb it will eat through the socket as it was designed to be a turn signal and it’s being used as a DRL.

So I wonder if the LEDs burn through them or if it isn’t a problem if they run cooler.

And you’ve never had them hyperflash even when it’s on for a few min?

And after finally pulling the trigger on a pair of those Auxbeam bulbs, I read the description more carefully and noticed that the '15 Genesis Sedan is one of very few cars they list as incompatible with this bulb; they say a very few sensitive cars need extra resistors. But now the bulbs are on the way, so I'm going to try taking out my add-on resistors and see if by some miracle my car is one of the ones these work in. Further bulletins as events warrant... 😬

I never saw that blurb! Mine are still working just fine in my 15 DH though :) Hope you get lucky!

Thanks, Rogozhin! Glad for you, and I hope so too! 😄

Update! I've only installed one so far, but it works! It works!!

*Exaggerated Billy Graham voice* HALLELUJAH!! PRAISE GENESIS!! 😅

IMG_9753.webpAlso discovered that heat resistant 3M double-sided tape is not enough to prevent resistors from melting clean through your headlight housing. 😳
