  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Blind Spot Detection - Fix or Replace BSD

I found a vid that shows calibrating BSD sensors
It looks like several angles must be precise for each sensor to work and then the tablet has expensive subscriptions from each manufacturer every year.

Mine has displayed "BSD Cancelled" recently on a long trip. When we got home, my wife noticed a scuff mark in the corner of my rear bumper. This pisses me off, because someone doing a hit and run that looks like "nothing" could cost me several thousand dollars!
Cancelled is not the same as error. If you had an alignment issue it would give you an error. Cancelled just means something in the vicinity generated a lot of RF noise that reduced veracity of data below allowable levels.

The system will display "Cancelled" if it receives no input for over 30 mins - I found that out on a trip to West Texas last year. See my previous post...

I'm not saying your wrong, but this doesn't seem right. The cancelled screen covers every other item on the display, and the switch is inoperable. If this were a normal function, this would not be the way this would operate. You would be able to use the switch to turn it on and off and the notification would flash temporarily and disappear, as if it were just turned off, so I must disagree. If you came to this conclusion on your own, you may be mistaken. If a dealer told you that, I think they are lying to you.

One final observation is that it was less than 30 minutes after the last BSD notification that I got the cancellation notice. And if this were normal operating functions, it should come back on as soon as a vehicle was in the blind spot. That didn't happen. So it is not a normal function. It shouldn't shut down because it is bored!

That is interesting. It would explain why I got the "BSD Cancelled" at the same geographic area going and on the return trip. There may have been some radio transmission through that area interfering with my sensors and explains why no problems the rest of my trip. Thank you for the reply.

Super weird... You weren't by any chance, driving past Area 51? 👽👽👽

We all need to be driving Hyundai products, if it keeps 'em away!

is the issue. However, you will need a GDS too

How did you got it fixed?

Mine only acted up on one trip in one geographic location near the border of Idaho and Utah and it happened on both legs of the trip, coming and going. After leaving that area, it resumed operating normally. Someone suggested it may be caused by radio frequency interference, which makes sense since it was the same area. I recently took the same trip and didn't have any problem, which could mean the source of interference has been removed or was shut down when I passed the area.

Mine started to fault at around 120,000 kms . Since out of warranty the dealer did charge for the calibration . Your car seems to be doing the same thing .Mine will show "check BSD" then at times "BSD cancelled" . From the other Hyundai forums the problem seems to be common in other models as well . Being intermittat I can't beleive the entire system needs to be replaced as is what the Non Gen dealer adivsed me . I think it may be a short or moisture as it definitely seems worse when its raining or snow/ slush .
I definitely noticed that the BSD system was affected negatively by going through puddles during and after rain fall.

Not directly related to this thread. But while replacing my front passenger door actuator, I had the wiring harness inside the door for the locks, window switches, window motor, etc. disconnected. When I started the car with all that disconnected as I needed to lower the window to remove it, the BSD failure warnings came on a few seconds after the car started? Since the harness was removed, I had to plug it back in to lower the window and the BSD failure went right way. Unplugged the door harness again, and the BSD failure came back?

TLDR - the BSD failure is somehow tied into the vehicle's CAN bus in an overcomplicated way, and something unplugged can cause this specific failure.

You set an error for missing indicator light circuit. The mirror has a single yellow LED connected to BSD via canbus, with the module missing the BSD system enters a fault state. This makes sense, because BSD has no other way to communicate with you except via the light and the beep tones.

The BSD Failure error requires the codes to be read to determine the failure type.

...
Unless you have a HUD, and have BSD indication enabled on it.
