If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Everything works re:bluetooth phone except I have no audio on car speakers. Tried different phone and got the same problem. Tired different Genesis and everything worked fine. If I put call in private mode I can use the phone audio. I tried increasing the volume with no success. Is this a service call problem or am I missing something?

I assume that your display shows that you are connected to to whomever you are talking with. If that is so;

You have to raise the audio for the car speaker only after you are connected.

Here is what I would do. Get someone with a cell phone to stand nearby, while they phone your cell number. When the ringing starts in the car, your display will show that you have an incoming call. With your controller, click on "Accept" the call. Only after you accept the call, and the display shows that you are connected, and the nearby person calling you starts to talk, turn the volume up on the dashboard volume control. (same control that you use for volume when you listen to the Radio).

Doing this is the same as when you have the Navi working, and the girl in the Navi unit talks. Turning the volume up or down while on the cell phone/bluetooth (or on the Navi) has nothing to do with the radio volume once the call ends, even though it is the same volume control.

This is why it worked fine with a different Genesis (their volume control was set correct) and does not work with your Geneisi (volume control not set high enough for bluetooth).

After you get it working, ENJOY.

Has anyone experienced an issue with complaints of an echo when talking to someone via bluetooth? I have had numerous friends state that they are clearly hearing everything they say back to them while they are speaking. It happens with different kinds of phones. Once I take the call to private, the echo is gone.

Would love to hear if this is an isolated instance.

If they hear their own voice echoing back to them, it is their phone/phone-service/cell tower and nothing to do with your phone or bluetooth.

I sometimes hear my own echo (not when using bluetooth) when I use my phone in various places. Sometimes good, sometimes echo, even from same place.

My bluetooth disconnects after 2-3 minutes. ALWAYS ! Have to re-connect the re-make the call. Very annoying. Anyone else have issues ?

Since day one with my car I have yet to have any problems with bluetooth. Actually it's super clear and keep getting compliments on how clear it is.
NEVER had ANY disconnects whatsoever...

I'm using a Motorola Q9H...if that helps.

When I first purchased my Motorola L9, I got it pared correct, however with incoming calls, I would not hear the bluetooth ring, so before I knew it, the person on the phone was saying, "are you there?" and I was surprised that I was having an incoming call.

Found the problem was that I had the DIS Phone screen option set to "Auto Connect". Once I removed the Auto Connect, everything worked perfect. I hear the ring, and have to hit the controller to connect.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I'm having trouble with pairing. I have three phones set up but once I connect with my phone and then turn off the car it will only find my phone automatically every other time. Sometimes I will even hangup and it won't find my phone when I go to redial. any suggestions?

Good news. My audio for bluetooth now works. Took the car back to the dealer and they replaced the total unit and it works fine now. Great service.

Same problem here and I don't believe it is the other phone. It is too consistant with multiple phone numbers (i.e. phone). Worked yesterday when I asked the other party to call me back.

Bit of a pain!

We're having a problem with phone operation: we can hear callers clearly on the B/T system, but they say that they hear noise and that our voices are broken up. This does not occur all the time, but much too often. At first it seemed to be related to the operation of the HVAC system, but this has not panned out. Saw another owner post on the Hyundai company site with the same problem. Ideas would be appreciated.

LVGenesis,

I just got a 2010 genesis and had the same problem from day one. Cant figure it out. People I call hear the echo and then they call me back on the same phones and no echo. I wish there was more discussion or a fix.

Spoke to dealer and they stated they would talk to the tech and get back to me. Got a call yesterday asking me multiple questions about my phone? As stated previuosly, I don't believe it is my phone (to frequent of a problem (multiple phone numbers)) but the bluetooth system itself. Is the bluetooth a separate unit from the audio system? I've heard that a few bluetooth problems were fixed by replacing the entire audio unit. With all the other problems I've read about on this blog pertaining to the audio segments (i.e. no audio due to overheating ...), I'm not sure I want even to go there! My tunes are great in my car, the NAV is excellent and I don't hear the phone echo on my end. Is it worth just telling the other party to call me back or have Hyundai attempt to fix.

Another bluetooth problem I encounter periodically is when I call my office VM. It asks for the password and I type in on phone, yet the VM system tells me that the numbers I typed are incorrect and repeats them. The numbers are completely different than I typed. It doesn't happen all the time, but it is frustrating when it does!

Anybody else having similar problems? If so, have they been fixed?

There are two different Bluetooth systems in the Genesis sedan depending on your option package--the integrated BT on the Technology package and the separate unit that fits into the roof on every other package.

If you are getting an echo, make sure that the microphone in the cell phone is off when connected via B/T. Some smartphones may not turn the mic off unless you change some settings in the phone.

1. Does anyone have a bluetooth manual? If so, where can I download it? The big manual references a separate bluetooth manual, but the dealer doesn't have a clue.
2. I have paired one Motorola cell phone, but continue to have problems with "phonebook downloading", periodically even after the phone book has been downloaded and stated that the download is complete. While this "phonebook downloading" is happening, the phone cannot call or receive any calls.
3. I paired a 2nd phone to the system, but do not see any way to download the phonebook from the 2nd phone. Can this be done?
4. I haven't had any success ending a call from the steering wheel. Only by picking up the phone and ending the call. Any other way to do this?
5. Is there any way to get around some of these long voice responses/instructions until the "tone"? On my new Prius, I can simply push a button to skip the message and go to the next step.
6. I have also had occasion when an incoming call is ringing thru the sound system, but I am unable to answer the call by pushing the steering wheel button or the phone button. I finally had to pull over and get out of the car in order to make or receive a call.

Any help will be appreciated.

When I get an incoming call, the volume of the call is always too low. I use the volume increase bottom on the steering will(usually to the max volume) just to hear the call. After I hang it, it then resets itself back to the mid level volume (which I can't hear well). So the first thing I have to do on the next call, is increase the volume. Is there anything I can do to reset the midrange volume higher permanently or have all calls anwsered with the higher volume preset?

Bluetooth information is contained in a larger (275pg) manual covering the navigation, sound and other systems. It is apparently not available in print, but rather online. But only a dealer can access it, using various codes and passwords. Why, is a mystery. In any event, ask your dealer to download it, or part of it, onto a disc (we used DVD R) for you. We had a good service manager who researched this issue and ultimately made the copy. I don't know if there is any smaller manual for this. Hope this helps.

PS. If you want to increase the audibility of your voice using Bluetooth, lower the sun visor (not to interfere with your vision, however) to act as a sound baffle. The microphone for BT is right above your head/front.

The DIS (driver informatin system) User Manual (282 page, 13.5MB pdf) can be downloaded at http://www.hmaservice.com. If you don't have an account, its easy to set one up.

Once you're logged in to the home page, click "Service Information", then "OM" (owner manuals), and then "2009 Genesis (BH) - DIS Driver Information System Manual"
