A guy at Fry's told me about this adapter while i was in the store picking up a Naxa 400 adapter for my car (this works really well for $20). He said his wife has one in her VW and it works flawlessly. Its kinda expensive (around $100) but if it gives me steering wheel control and song name, I would prolly pay more!

If you have a iphone and this thing works with our cars that would be pretty sweet!! Dont know about us Android guys...

Im gonna email them next week to see what their return policy is before ordering or see if i can pick one up off amazon.

If anyone is willing to try this before i get around to it. Please let us know what your findings are.

A few folks have one like this. It sounds like it is potentially similar, but a ton cheaper. I have the Monoprice BT receiver, but it drops out on me. I either have a bad one, or my car is a hostile environment for the Monoprice unit.

Double never mind... I missed that you already know about the Naxa. And, the Naxa does not let you control the iOS device from steering wheel & receive track info. I am a moron. Great post. I want to find a device that will essentially be a wireless extension of the Genesis' 30-pin doc plug.

What do you think of this one? The Layden site says it has AVRCP. And, it boasts aptX. It may be a cheaper option. I need to buy something better than what I have now.

I was trying to find something that will let me use the steering wheel controls as well as auto connect when i get into the car. The Naza 400 i have now reconnects but i get no steering wheel control. I think im just gonna bite the bullet and order one of the ViseeO devices on fri. If it doesnt work oll just return it.

That LAYEN I-DOCK looks to have the same tech inside it but says nothing about working in cars..

Ill try the ViseeO if you'll try the Layen. :D

I sent an email to Layen to see what they say. My minimum is to add steering wheel control for track forward and back. If I can get artist and track info, that is a huge bonus. I have not connected my iPhone to the cable directly in about a year, and I am getting tired of that "no video" screen.

It would really be cool if the ViseeO displays artist and track info for other apps, like iTunes Radio, Pandora, etc.

I emailed ViseeO and sent them pictures of the in car connection and the cable ends. Hopefully what they are doing with some other brands of cars will work with our cars.

I was also looking at both the ViseeO and Layen for my Genesis. Did you guys hear back from either manufacturer?

I ordered an i-DOCK. I will post how it does when I receive it.

JBoogie-- any updates on the ViseeO?

I ordered the same BT adapter yesterday.

I've tried a couple USB/Aux jack combinations now. What I'm finding is if the Genesis BT AND aftermarket BT adapter are connected at same time to phone then the audio will cut in and out (similar to skipping record).

I should know more this Wed when I test. I'm thinking the same problem will occur and may consider a BT adapter that will make calls and stream music. Then just leave the Genesis BT disconnected. :/

I have been communicating with a guy named Mark at ViseeO. After looking at the pictures i sent him. He suggested that i track down a BMW ipod cable and see if it works in our car.
I finally found a BMW cable and it works just like the Hyundai cable. The only diff is that aux and usb ends are separate and then converge into a little block then to the 30pin ipod connector. My Naxa 400 works the same with the BMW and the Hyundai cable.
I went ahead and ordered the tune2air devices to try. Hopefully i will have it soon.

Side note.. The BMW cable does not sound as good as the Hyundai cable.. I think it might have something to do with the little box that the ends converge into.

That totally sucks. I was getting the dropouts, and I thouht it was my cheap-o adapter. That explains why my daughter's phone did not skip in my car. This makes me even more frustrated with the moron engineer who screwed this feature up in the Tech system.

I am tempted to try to retrofit the 2013 system in my car.

I have a android phone and the Naxa Nab 4000. When i get into the car, the Nab connects to my phone as the "Media Device" and the car connects as the "Call Audio". U have to go into your phones BT settings and check the box telling it to connect as a specific device. No skipping or problems after i changed that setting.

Do the steering controls (next track etc) work ok?

What were the default settings and the settings you changed to in the android phone? I may be a victim of Apple's restricted Bluetooth profile control. But if I knew exactly what you did, maybe I could find the comparable iPhone setting changes.

Not with the Naxa... I will have the tune2air device fri. Hopefully that will give us what we want.

When i add a new Bluetooth device it shows up in the list. Out to the right there is a little gear that lets u go into the settings. Go into the settings. You can rename or unpair it. Below that is the profile. Here is where u choose "Media Audio" or "Call Audio" (or both)

The Layen i-DOCK does not work with my 2012 Genesis Tech. The car goes through the initializing iPod display when the Layen is first connected. But it eventually gives an error and suggests that I reconnect the device.

Bummer.

JBoogie, let us know when you get the ViseeO in and tested.

I got the ViseeO tune2air yesterday and it does NOT work.. :(

Bluetooth will detect the device but will not connect to it with the Hyundai ipod cable.. I tried it with the BMW cable and it connects fine and the sound quality is WAY better than my Naxa Nab 4000 (almost as good as a direct cable to the aux jack). But still no steering wheel controls.

The problem is with our USB port. I doesn't recognize/support many of the devices we try to connected to it.

New idea: Apple AirPlay...

I have been using a Monoprice Bluetooth receiver in my car for a while, but I am unsatisfied. I have been getting frequent audio dropouts. It works with other phones, and it works with mine when the phone BT connection is disconnected. So, I think that I have diagnosed that the car's phone BT connection may be the cause the audio streaming dropouts. I bet that is the reason that Hyundai dumped BT streaming in the Tech package-- the BT phone link was broken, and the did not have time or desire to fix it.

Anyway, I am trying a new experiment: Apple AirPlay. I just ordered one of these gems. There are others out there, but this looked like a combination of cheap and likely to succeed. I will keep you posted.
