Brake Fluid Recall!

Have not had the brake fluid changed yet but must say that my brakes feel very good and in fact, seem to be one of the strengths of the car. Very solid for sure.

Had mine done with an oil change two weeks ago. No apparent change - brakes have always been great.

When we took the car in to have a pre-purchase inspection done, the fluid was changed. Bought the car and drove it home, about a five hour trip. Everything seems to be fine thus far.

Got the DOT 4 fluid changeover done yesterday without any issues. Pedal feel is the same as before. I don't go to dealerships unless there's warranty work to be done, but the service tech was pleasant to deal with and got it done in under 2 hours while I waited.
I chose an Equus certified dealer (St. Laurent Hyundai).

Got mine done today, I think they adjusted freeplay on the pedal feels nice actually compared to before. It felt like it had a dead spot before then wham brakes come on full force now it's a lot of linear. Oh, and got a free car wash too can't complain.

I got my fluid changed today. The pedal feels a tiny bit softer. It does seem smoother now .

Just had the change of brake fluid done today and I have the same feeling, that the pedal feels softer, I don't get as much feedback from it as I did before, which I don't like.

I'll see if I get used to this, but I'm afraid that all the air might not have been flushed out and hence the softer feeling (more spongy) in the brake pedal. So far, it felt a bit difficult to modulate with being so soft throughout the entire range, it doesn't push back more as I press it in more.

Was told upon dropping Genesis off at dealership that the brake fluid recall was going to be done. Recall done in June 2013.

Need to vent some...
Sloppy work! Scratched paint near hood (with big grimy hand print), used a greasy screwdriver to remove hubs (3 out of 4 scratched!), Grease hand mark on inside door panel, and grease, oil drops, and hand prints all over my pristine Tau 4.6L V8!!

I literally don't know what to do....makes me sick to my stomach....

I also researched the maintenance manual online and it said to use their tool to actuate the ABS unit. 10 to 1 odds that they didn't do this. I specifically asked them to use the computer and my issues are gone.

Dropped my 2012 RSpec off for 22,500 service, ASM advised he'd be doing brake fluid change as well as requested service and a back up camera and AC issue as well. Provided a 2013 Genesis V6 to use as I'm not a good waiter .I now understand suspension issue...the V6 ; to seat of my pants; is more tautly sprung than RSpec...but that being said...it is still a great car!

Thanks for the feedback, I was about to ask if anybody went back to get the brakes bled properly. I guess I should call back the dealer and waste more of my time to get this done correctly.

I am a little confused about your post. How many times did they bleed your brakes? Changing the fluid from DOT-3 to DOT-4 should have no change in the brake feel, and if the brakes are worse than before fluid change, there is a problem (which some of us have experienced because they did not bleed the brakes properly after the fluid change).

If you had a change in brake feel after the fluid change (feel got worse), and they re-did the brake bleeding, and is still is worse than originally, then you got cheated.

BTW, there is no difference in 2012 and 2013 suspension, and V6 is not tighter than R-Spec. If that is what you felt, there is some other explanation such as maybe tires were over-inflated (they come at least 10 psi over-inflated from distributor).

R-Spec should be stiffer, suspension-wise, than the V-6, if anything.

Note: DOT 3 and DOT 4 etc brake fluid only have a difference in boiling point. Hydraulic fluid is incompressible (as is any liquid) and there would be no difference in how the brake pedal 'feels' (unless you had or have some extra air in in the system).

Yes and he said he would take care of it and provide a free service next time. Problem is that this is the third time dealership has messed up.
1st time they were supposed to fix a faulty knob and instead removed my "memory" and replaced it with someone else's. When I got home noticed all different addresses and phone numbers. The car was brand new and luckily the manager was able to get it back before it was lost.
Next while replacing the knob they scratched the console and had to order new plastic cover and air /heat control button.
And now this.
I'm out alot of time that no amount of free oil changes will make up for.
The manager said next time he will personally take the car through the process but I'm skeptical and really bummed there is no alternativeI guess I just have to trust the processing take it again see what happens but I don't have much confidence. thanks for listening

My not being cheated refers to NOT having a complaint from the brake fluid change!! As to the3.6 feel...I have an old butt..what can I tell you...I prefer the ride/handling of the RSpec...sorry

I can understand that you may prefer the ride of a R-Spec over V6, but V6 is less firm than R-Spec. This has been documented and written about many, many times before from multiple sources. Like I said, maybe the V6 tires on the car you drove were way over-inflated. It happens. Hyundai over inflates the tires to at least 10 PIS over the recommended PSI before they put the cars on the ships from Korea to US. An amazing number of dealers forget to adjust them to 33 PSI as part of dealer prep.

But there is one other exception that could account for your observation. The Base Trim V6 still has the crappy Dunlop tires (I believe) whereas all other Trim Levels on V6 and V8 have Michelin tires, and that could also contribute to a harsh feel on the V6 base model.

Agreed. I don't see how the V-6 can be viewed as stiffer than the R-Spec. Smaller sidewalls, stiffer spring rates, and higher compression/rebound suspension.
