  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Ok so Ive only had my Genesis for about a week or so, and I didn't know how to activate the side mirrors to go down when I put the car in reverse, I do now tho. Anyway long story short, I got some curb rash. You guys think I can get it polished and make it look factory again or don't even bother? :(

Ouch! Sorry to see that.

I think a good wheel place can clean it up a lot. Would it look factory again? Doubt it. But they can make it look far less noticeable and blend in. I have had some wheel repairs that look really good....

Good example of what might be prevented by reading the vehicle manuals.

Sorry that happened to you. Happens to the best of us.

I would honestly contact rimguardxtreme (www.rimguardxtreme.com).
They come to you with free estimates. They are VERY reasonable.

Yes they can be repaired but they will not be perfect. I would invest in another wheel and use that as a spare. Check ebay. I was given 2 wheels from the dealer that had curb rash and WheelWorx in MD fixed them. I now use them as winter wheels. they came out pretty good just not perfect.

Actually heard about this tire/wheel shop in my city. They're going to repair it, I've seen some wheels they had with the same finish. Honestly, wheels they had looked brand new. Since the RSpec wheel has a machined face to it, he said he's going to put it on the machine for that same look. He said it'll look factory.

If the wheels were just painted alloy, then it would be a different story he said.

All of mine look like that thanks to the wife mostly. I just live with it.

These types of scratches are more due to the sidewall of the tire being more straight than rounded like on non low profile tires. I wonder if a wider tire would help prevent this. But I've been told that a 245 is as wide as you can go on these rims.
