  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Car struggling to turn on after pumping gas

I thought that would actually trigger a "CEL" leaving the engine running during fueling? The dealership stated this in 2006 buying my new 3.3 L V6 Sonata and in 2014 buying my current 3.8 L V6 Genesis. They also said, "Don't Top It Off"!
I've refueled many hundred times with the engine running, never a problem.

The top it off affects some of the pollution additions in the past decade or two. You could fill your '68 Chevy to the brim with no problem. They did not have cannisters and such back then.

Yes, we did it with older vehicles. Just sharing what the same dealership told me after two consecutive vehicle purchases.

Remove and check the replacement purge valve. If you can suck or blow air through it, then it's bad. Was the replacement OEM or aftermarket?

I checked it before I installed it. It's aftermarket but even the part number etching is exactly like OEM. Can't tell a difference except no Hyundai branding. The car was fine for months after replacing it. But, I'll check it again, you never know.

Okay, I've done all the things. Checked the valve and it's functioning correctly.
I filled the tank while leaving the car running and it filled up fine, no hesitation or anything, just smooth idle (I kept my hand on the body of the car to feel any vibrations etc).
Turned car off immediately after getting in and restarted it with no issue.
