Ceramic Tint suggestions

I had my windshield done with Llumar Air Blue 80. I’ve yet to have anyone notice the films presence from the outside, but boy what a big difference it makes on the inside. Blocks a ton of heat gain through the windshield and the reduction in glare is pretty impressive when you consider how light the film appears.

It is quite insane. Tbh, it's made me a bit soft or something. Any time I get in my brother's car, I always feel like I'm baking from the light coming through the front windshield (no film/tint)

My state prohibits any tint or aftermarket application to the windshield. Annual inspections look for this.

I assume the top one is 35%? I'm looking at something that's not too dark that you can't see anything inside at all. I want it so that that guy in the lane beside me can't see inside but when I'm standing next to the window I want to be able to see my passenger.

Looks like 30 or 35% is good for me.

I did not get the 80 on the windshield, though I've been told it really works... so I'll keep that option open (just afraid of doing anything to the windshield.)

The top is 35%, yes. The only time I've gone with anything other 35% is when I had my installer (who had done my previous 4 cars at 35%) decide that I should go with 20%.

In retrospect, I should've told him to fix it... but I lived with it for the two years I owned the car, plus I didn't wanna risk a poor removal job.

I think 35% is dark enough to show it's tinted, but not dark enough that you can't see in (nor dark enough to draw unwanted attention from the po-po.)

I have the exact same tint and like it. Although they really should have a 25% because I had the 15% on my last car and it was a bit too dark for my taste and this is maybe a bit too light. Car looks good!

I finally got around to having my G70 tinted. I was a bit unsure of which % to go with since I have the light interior on my Design Edition. I ended up going with Rayno S5 30% ceramic tint and think it’s perfect. I don’t want super dark as it makes looking out the window at night challenging. I feel that this works perfectly for what I want without going too dark.

My tint shop did also warn that removing the 3rd brake light might crease the headliner. (They are awesome and always honest). They worked around it by putting a couple of wedges under the 3rd brake light and rolled the tint between the 3rd brake light and the rear glass to install it. Turned out awesome.

Rayno S9, 20%VLT Ceramic tint on all side windows and rear windshield. The front has a 70% ceramic tint applied, but I forgot the exact name of the film. Something-air, I think. No issues with seeing at night or with sunglasses on. Looks a bit lighter with the sunroof open and/or on a sunny day.

I was told by one tint shop that Rayno is trash and to look at their reviews, but I didn't see anything bad about em. The heat rejection on the S9 film is amazing (the S5 film's heat rejection is so-so comparatively. I was originally considering it because of price) and even the lighter tint in the front cuts down a good amount of heat. For those who still haven't done it, I would highly recommend tinting ALL your windows. (skip the sunroof though)

EDIT: The front windshield tint also HELPS the HUD. Using polarized glasses blocked it out completely before the tint, but now that it's done, I can see it even with polarized glasses on. It is a considerable bit dimmer than without the (polarized) glasses, but it was invisible before the tint.

PS: The G70 (at least the 3.3t Sport) comes with 70% VLT glass on the sides (not sure about the windshields), so it will make you tint a bit darker than just the percentage you choose. Technically mine should be around 14% if measured

I have Llumar Air Blue 80 all around except on windshield. Works great! It doesn’t look Gangsta but, rather, elegant.

You wear sunglasses at night? I probably wouldn't go down to 35% for the front, largely for fear of a ticket, but it actually isn't as dark as it seems from the inside looking out. I'm sure he'll be fine.

Since I started this thread, I'm gonna update it as well.
I initially went for the SunTek CIR 20 in December.
It's a 20% with 24% VLT.
I got the car redone today cause I had some small clusters of bubbles that didn't cure because of trapped dirt.
Since it was lifetime warranty, it was free replacement.
Decided to go for CIR 30 which is 30% with 34% VLT for the front and CIR 20 for the back.
The outside view with differing front and back is very minimal. I was expecting the front to look obviously lighter but it doesn't which is cool.
The biggest difference is that you can see the driver's face now with the 30% whereas with the 20%, you couldn't.
I'll update with pics later once I clean the outside of the windows.

A tinted windshield plus wearing sunglasses too seems unnecessary and possibly dangerous.

NIGHTTIME:

A tinted windshield makes no sense at all and is definitely dangeroso.

It’s not. Probably if you’re older and your night vision is going, then yea it could be dangerous

Maybe my experience will help someone still deciding before they get tints done. - Go for the Ceramic or better.

I had tinted my previous car somewhere in New Jersey, so I didnt know what kind was put on but they were same % (30 sides and 20 rear). It was a referral, and they did an awesome job. I never had cabin "heat", even on a super hot summer day.

When I tinted my G70, I was tinting in Canada and the price for Ceramic was 100$ more than what I paid in Jersey, so I figured, I prob had ordinary tints, so i didnt bother getting ceramic.

HUGE REGRET.

Its not something that bothers me enough to want to remove them and install new ones.... but I think about my stupid choice every time I get into the cabin on a summer day.

Significant difference for the ceramic tints.

2nd thing. I asked what color tints they had, and they said they only have one kind. The sample tints they had in the lobby were of a grey nature (similar to my old car). The ones installed have a very slight yellowish tint. Bothers me since I have an SI paint. They dont go together well. This is what might make me redo the tints.
So be aware for color/tint being used.
