  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Connected Services going away in December 2022

It by viper?
There are many other alarm/remote start companies than just Viper. Read the threads about it on this forum to see the ones that others are using.

Thank it work with your cellphone right

On my 2023 GV80, I can still use remote lock/start/etc... But the "Map" features stopped working after 31-Dec... No more remote SVM pictures or map showing vehicle location...

Some do (like the post above) and some don't. That's why you need to actually read what had already been said here.

I'm reading some of the remedies from the 3G shutdown from other auto manufacturers. Most are offering either a software update or hardware update. Some of the hardware updates are free and a couple are either $500 or $900. The point is, they all offer a remedy unlike Hyundai/Genesis. So it being cost prohibitive is not a good excuse since the other manufactures are doing it. I suspect Hyundai/Genesis CAN offer a remedy, they just don't wan't to be bothered with it. 2012 and earlier models seems to be the cutoff date for updating the with LTE. Maybe if Hyundai/Genesis owners make enough noise or class action, they will offer an update in the near future. My Apple Watch has a stand alone LTE radio in it with it's own phone number. So it's not a big piece of hardware. Come on Hyundai/Genesis. If a third party can make use of the OBDII with remote start and telematics, Hyundai surely can integrate a new modem somehow. I would pay a reasonable amount to upgrade my car. Take care of your loyal customers!!!

That is quite a statement. I'm not doubting you but can you back it up with the technical differences? The Genesis modem is built into the $3500 head unit. Is it the same on the other car markers? Do you know for a fact that Genesis can offer a reasonable priced modem to add into the system?
You say cost prohibitive is not a good excuse. OK, but what is the cost to them or us? I know what I'd pay but do you know what others are willing to pay to continue the service?

Looking forward to the details.

As of today, mine is still working.
You must have the 8" screen. Those are probably okay. It's those of us with the 9.2" ("ultimate") that lost connectivity.

It going to cost me $1500 for what you have
WOW!
That's almost double what I paid.
I assume you shopped around, but it really shouldn't cost that much.
Mine would have been a couple hundred cheaper if I hadn't opted to add an impact alarm to it.
For me:
- $600 Compustar remote starter and Drone Mobile and install
- $200 Shock sensor/ impact alarm and install
- $11/month Drone Mobile premium subscription

Happy New YearEd.

I didn’t say Hyundai/Genesis could, I said I suspect they could considering most of the other auto manufactures did indeed offer solutions and remedies ranging from software updates to hardware updates. If they all can do it, why can’t Hyundai do it? If I recall our cars come with a Lexicon head unit and the only other cars that come with Lexicon is Rolls Royce/Bentley. They offered a solution. Porsche offered to upgrade the hardware for $500.

You suspect that they could based on others did, but not all cars have the same system. It's not an if I can upgrade my system then you should certainly be able to upgrade your entirely different system situation. I suspect that those who could, did, and those who couldn't didn't. And there are many more brands than just Genesis that didn't. If there is money to be made in offering an upgrade, why would you say that they just didn't want to be bothered? If they could upgrade, they certainly could offer it and set a price that is favorable to them. Since when do car makers not want to make money? Face it, if they could do it and make a buck, they would have done it. There is no sinister plot here.

No.
Went to an auto alarm installer in my area.

Here’s a link to Consumer Reports listing what manufacturers are doing what. 3G Wireless Network Shutdown Means Your Car May Lose Automatic Crash Notification - Consumer Reports
Good story. So bottomline. It affects most all manufacturers and not just Hyundia/Genisis. For most, there is no solution. For others they have to pay and for some there is a free (but may be limited) solution.
