cp-e™ Blitzing the Genesis Coupe: Full lineup in the Works
Custom Performance Engineering here! Over from Maryland - just outside the District of Columbia.
We are no strangers to turbo cars and this looks like it will be THE turbo car of the year. We got ours in this past wednesday, the 25th, and just as AMS is doing - we are tearing through it to unleash the beast within.
We have a 2.0T black coupe with the track package - and the quality so far seems great out of the box its a handful already.
Over the weekend I put the car back together and took it AutoCrossing over at a SCCA event. (we took it apart the day we got it)
On the road the car is very smooth, quiet and very comfortable. The creature comforts are nice and overall is well designed in terms of quality and athetics.
On the track and out of the box its pretty darn good.
The handling on this car I would dare say - amazing. The suspension geometry is similar to that of the 135i that we have - which explains alot. The big brakes stop on a dime and the stock tires are pretty grippy. The LSD in the back helps keep the power on the ground. Its a little heavy compared to the cars in its class (RX-8s and 350Zs).. Although I think its true class is in STU
The engine in stock form is quite nice but a little tamed in my opinion. Acceleration is no problem but on a smaller autocross course you need response and power down low. Throttle response is a bit slow even with Traction control off - thats something perhaps we can fix with our StandBack Piggyback system (EMS) and when we explore flashing the ECU in general. There seem to be a fair amount of bottle necks in the piping in the intake side and exhaust so opening that up will be a priority. And then on to other goodies like manifolds and turbo upgrades.
Next up: our plan!
