  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Custom Air Intakes Ready - Improved and Powder Coating available

You can install it. Any air intake you choose will require removal of current air box. It's snapped in place mostly with maybe 1 or two screws requiring a screwdriver. I am not a mechanic and I have unsnapped and installed new intakes in about 20 minutes. Performance gains are documented in this forum. I posted a video of back to back dyno runs before and after install and got 15 rear wheel horsepower with just my intake. Thought this was pretty amazing!:)

Appreciate the info!

Which one exactly did you buy? And where would i purchase this and for how much.. Would buy it today

Driv200 makes them and he sells it as well...send him a PM.

Thanks bud

Question from a noob: I'm not sure of the underhood dynamics of the 5.0, but is it safe to assume this will fit a 4.6?

Nvm, I'll just pm Driv

EDIT: I'm probably too new to pm a senior member, no option for it.

Not sure why you guys are getting blocked in PM? I can say the 4.6 has different set up and my kits are not compatible. If I had a 4.6 to work on, I'm sure we could custom fab a kit. I think the mass air sensor is part of the OEM air kit which complicates things a lot on 4.6 cars.

I will ask moderator about my PM's getting blocked. Thanks to old members for helping new members contact me. :)

Hey members, I have lost PM ability and other functions of forum. Did something change? I have tried to reach mods, but I can't b/c PM's do not work. Thanks for help if anyone can connect me to a moderator.

This is what it says for you, if I try to send you a message.
I'm interested I the Mod btw.

Driv200 has chosen not to receive private messages or may not be allowed to receive private messages. Therefore you may not send your message to him/her.

Driv, I was glancing through your old posts to see if there was an in-car video of full acceleration with the intake on but I didn't see one. Do you have such a thing? Thanks!

Wish I was in the Central region. I wonder if the dimensions are the same (I could always add the appropriate fittings later)

Bglin - thx for letting me know what my PM message says? I can't find where to change that? Any help?

I went to user CP and can't find anything.

Think I fixed my PM messaging. My fault. Thanks.

damn. i was really hoping to come in here and see a 4.6 solution lol

Same lol. Wish I knew the differences between 5.0 and 4.6 as far as intake is concerned.

Someone asked about difference between the intakes on the 4.6 and 5.0.

The 4.6 has manifold injection, which requires a mass airflow sensor that is located on the intake tract just downstream from the air filter. You can see it when you remove the OEM filter lid. It is partially obscured by a screen, which can be removed for a small power increase. Done it. It is just pressed in place and can be easily reinstalled.

The 5.0 with direct injection has no mass air flow sensor in the intake tract, and one can substitute a simple aluminum pipe for the intake tract. This cannot be done on the 4.6.

My opinion after trying several combinations of cone filters on 4.6 and 5.0 is that they do produce a nice power increase as shown on the dyno with the hood up. But under normal driving with the hood down intake air temperatures soar; and much of that power gain is lost. The OEM configuration does a fairly nice job of delivering intake air with modest heat gain. To better the OEM with a cone filter you would need a complete sealed air box (open on top, of course) that fully utilizes the OEM cold air intake apparatus.

Now, if you insist on trying a cone filter, buy the biggest that fits, which is a K&N model 1040. With a little imagination you can connect it to the OEM intake tract.
