Dareckibmw's Genesis 5.0 - fastest color [Official Thread]

It took me a while to make a decision, which wheels I would like to have on my car. I wasn't sure about the design and/or color, then I saw Huddleston's car ..... I said to myself - those wheels are gorgeous! I want them too!
They look awesome on white cars, especially with black glossy pano roof, though, but I didn't know, how they are going to look on my car - Empire State Gray. Well, I decided to get them anyway....do I like them now? hell yeah!

So, here is my 5.0, sitting on VELGEN VMB5 Matte Gunmetal in 20×9″ et35 front and 20×10.5″ et45 rear concave wheel. Tires are NITTO555 255/35/20 and 285/30/20

Even though, my car isn't lowered (yet) they still look good......ARK springs will go in next week!

Looks really nice. The pics also do the Empire Gray justice - not normally a gray car fan, but that looks great. Not big on lowered cars, so I like it as it is.

Huddleston's 5.0 is sitting on the same wheels, same offset, lowered and he said he doesn't rub. Yes , of course, I'll let you all know if it rubs or not.....it better be quiet or else

I live and usually stay in SW burbs, but I travel sometimes to Bensenville and/or Schiller Park and hang around the airport taking pictures of the planes

I think this may have convinced me not to go 20. While I hate the sidewall mush of the 18s that came on my car, I am also acutely aware of the fact that I am less concerned with roadway issues, ie, slight asphalt delamination of maybe 1". In my Volvo at tollway speeds thats no bueno, with the (what seem to me to be at this point) balloons on the stock 18s, I don't even give it a second thought. What a relaxing and less stressful experience that is. I think if I got 20s I would be be focusing on that instead of the ride. I drive slower in my Genny (most of the time), I care about douchebags less, it's a wonderful place to be, we all know this. But **** if the Genesis doesn't look "correct" with 20s. So confused.....19s for peace of mind? 20s for aesthetics? suckage .....(its worth knowing my Volvo is stiffer than a witches nipple in a brass bra and dropped 2", this was intentional, but it's a different tool).

but you live in IL, don't the roads there suck? I would be petrified of bending a rim.

I live ~35 miles south west of Chicago, our roads here are actually pretty smooth and I am not worrying about hurting my rims hitting a pothole and I rarely go to the City with my car, I should be ok.

btw. I was just playing with photoshop and lowered it....now I can't wait till next week!

Since the new tires have lower walls than the originals, I can tell the ride got more harsh, nothing major but you can feel it, most people wouldn't even notice.

It might get stiffer once I drop it on ARK's, but still....I took a ride in a friends Genesis, his car is lowered and sits on 20's as well and I didn't really see a difference in stiffness between his car and mine.

I think it looks really good with the photoshopped drop. I live with the reality of frost heaves and potholes more or less everywhere that isn't freshly-paved. No way I would want to give up a fraction of bump-absorbing ride comfort that my "baloon" 18's give me. If somebody forced me, 19s would be my max. If I drove on billiard-smooth pavement all the time, I'm sure 20's would be fine.

Those 20's do look really good. I was thinking of going with some staggered 19's since my tires were already 245/275's, but might be changing my mind now.
