Dash cam?

It seems that Genisis has already solved this … why the F@CK do we not have it??

Because they really care more about their market. For North America is just extra money but if they fail in South Korea they are nothing so they give the people what they want!?
Mind you, the camera is such a great idea and I'm sure everyone would pay a little extra for that.
Seems Genesis does the bait and switch because that's just one of the many features they held from most of the other countries. Some markets don't get the fingerprint start feature, the GenesisPay feature either. And these are things they sold us on when they originally advertised this vehicle to the world. Such a shame.

Some features are not allowed in specific markets by federal, state or local law. It’s not a bait and switch.

Genesis was developed in Korea and all the features allowed by Korea. My GMC 3500 Dually was developed in the US and has some features not available in Mexico. My Audi S4 developed in Europe has features available there but not here. It’s not a bait and switch until the Genesis of America states the car has features it does not. I’ve yet to find a feature Genesis of America said we have that we don’t unless you have proof otherwise.

I believe it is also Korea where they got augmented reality nav whereas we don't. MB on the '23 GLC has it in US so it is allowed here. Why Genesis did not allow it here....no idea.

It probably just isn't profitable, and in fact is probably very much the opposite. Translating over the AR navigation software to be compatible to run on US streets and then having to support it just from a technical standpoint to a wide variety of users unfamiliar with it would have cost more money than any extra sales the feature would have generated. Especially with cars flying off the lots in the last few years already.

Not including the integrated dash cam features when a good bit of the luxury competition already has those options available here, that's BS and a poor move on their part in my opinion. Make it a paid option/feature even.

Make it a paid option/feature even.
Ask BMW owners how much they like paying for features. It’s not a popular business move.

The few people that would pay for AR navigation here in the States compared to programming and integration costs would make it a very high priced feature for Genesis of America if they simply wanted to break even.

Like all features in cars, if it’s something you must have and the vehicle you’re looking to buy doesn’t have it you need to consider other vehicles or live with the fact you won’t have that option. It’s pretty simple.

Oh I agree! I'm not looking forward to that mentality spreading to other brands and just hoping it doesn't. I meant more like even offering it as an option when the car is built like it already is on BMW and Mercedes at least. Tesla appears to offer it as a standard feature even.

Well, after witnessing 3-4 near misses a day, seeing two accidents this week when drivers blew through red lights and being put onto the cub this morning when an old guy failed to yield at a roundabout I was already in I've decided to purchase the FITCAMX for my GV70. I'll try to make an easy install video for anyone interested.

I also purchased a Blackview cam for my GMC 1-ton dually. I know it's only a matter of time before some idiot pulls out in front of me when I'm pulling my 21,000 lbs fifth wheel camper and then tries to blame more for not stopping fast enough.

My setup continues to perform exquisitely.
Radar and cam mout and power from the mirror section. Easy amd working great 👍🏼

I was intrigued by the FitCamX because of the integrated design. In reading reviews from longer term users there is an internal button battery that records time stamps when the vehicle is off. The battery apparently has a service life of ~ 2 years and is soldered directly to the circuit board. So unless you're handy with a soldering gun you'll need to take it somewhere to have this replaced. Seems this could be solved by the vendor by using a clip in battery similar to a car remote. I don't mind replacing batteries but shouldn't require me to have passed a high school electronics course.

The internal temperature of my car in the summer is well into the100's. I have "burned" through 2 dash cams and at least 2 SD cards despite them being suitable for the job. Batteries do not fare well in the heat. I had a Blackvue DR900-X 2-camera system in my previous Genesis that I installed in my GV70. A friend in Houston has had his Blackvue for at least 4 years with no issues. It gets just as hot if not hotter there. The GV70 install is pretty easy as the trim and headliners appear to have attachment points set back so running power and camera wires was pretty painless. The rear camera is best connected first as it usually has a smaller plug than the front camera connection and is easier to feed to the hatch. This requires removing the trim and feeding the wire under the headliner. Having removed both ends of the rubber boot, you can use a stiff wire to pull the camera wire through the first hole. I used a nylon fish wire starting at the top of the boot to avoid any damage to the small wires in the loom. It's fiddly but you have to be careful pulling the wire through the boot. The last part again needs a stiff wire fed from the top to pull the camera wire through the hole in the middle of the hatch. Leave enough wire to connect to the rear camera in the position you want. Fix the rear camera in position, connect the cable, replace the trim, and just tuck the wire into the trim joint at the side of the frame. It is easy to then run the front to the back now and tuck any excess wire under the trim behind the rear quarter lights.

My question is where to safely install a Blackvue power pack to extend my parking monitor time?

After valiently trying but miserably failing to find a discrete spot to mount my recycled Redtiger F7N which didn't nauseate me... gave up and pulled the trigger on a FitCamX (dual).

So far, I am impressed with the "pre-ship" communication from the vendor who went to some lengths to ensure I had selected the correct product. Might be the first time anyone really bothered to care even the slightest - I mean, I hit "Buy Now," so Caveat Emptor, have a nice day, right? Impressed me they took the extra step to verify.

Having said that... the soldered battery is super dumb IMHO. I may swap that out for a battery clip once it arrives and before I install it. Thanks for that heads-up @TOGenesis, and to @iflitwo for the cable run summary - I plan to run it through the rubber boot-loom also, to keep the wire run clean to the hatch when open. I don't look forward to pulling off all the trim to get it there, but with the massive pano-roof obstructing a direct run through the headliner, there's really no other way. I worry about avoiding curtain airbags too along the way. Will be a bit of an adventure.

Brand new owner of a 2024 GV70 - my first post here. I too just installed a FitCamX despite having a new 4K Viofo dashcam I could have used. I just wanted a tidy integrated cam that just disappeared from view - mission accomplished. Removing the cover was easy. Snapping it back in place though took several attempts to get the right alignment.

I will also chime in that extreme heat is deadly to lithium batteries. I've had several batteries swell up so badly they cracked open their device cases. This includes a dash-mounted solar TPMS, a jump starter kept in the trunk, and a smart doorbell. (I was able to replace the tiny battery in the doorbell, which took some soldering).

Old post I know but had to reply, just saw it now - the Genesis Dashcam ad, a feature only available in Korea... and a digital very white Doogie Houser is driving.
Lol. "oosp"

And yes - why not in North America? So dumb. I would pay for that option... if they offered options. Or hell, just add $500 to the car price and call it standard. Gah.

Good news! Looks like the battery (little yellow blob) has been converted to a user serviceable consumable. No solder required. This is a pic from a brand new 4K dual FitCamX rig. Looks slick- definitely the way to go for me. Hopefully the images look as good as the mount.

For any other DIY types like myself, here are some additional pics and tips to what is already here and were *instrumental* to my own successful FitCamX dual cam install today (no parking power line) on a 2024 GV70 - special thanks to everyone I quoted here (quotes have been trimmed for clarity - follow the links to see the full posts). This and the quotes might also help anyone with any brand of rear camera line to run.

YOU MUST WATCH THE FIRST QUOTED VIDEO TO UNDERSTAND YOUR A-PILLAR! I can almost guarantee you will break it or give up if you don't watch this video first. I know I would have. A gentle tug at the top of the a-pillar trim will *partially* release it. Then you will spend about 45 minutes wanting to smash it back in. Then it will nearly fall off into your hands - there is only 1 INSANE locked plug and 1 very basic simple one. Once the two plugs are released, a gentle wiggle UP will pop the pillar trim out of its socket. Installation is the reverse of removal - but the "insane" plug can be fairly easily just pressed back into place. You will hear a distinct thumping click when it seats. Tug to confirm. This single piece was by far the most difficult for my install.

Hi all, I found an installation video guide for installing a dashcam in the G80. It is in Korean, but the visuals should be sufficient to follow along. He also installs a dash cam with a side camera, which I don't think I have ever seen in the US.

SOME GOOD PICS HERE ALSO - Follow the link to see the original post.
Forgot to share the photos of my dashcam installation. <snip>
AND HERE - @bestcorea posted some great stuff.
Wiring the rear dash cam was a real pain. <snip>

I quoted this one because the answer is in these posts - for reference for anyone else stuck as @sheepdogoreo was:

Does anyone have any tips or advice for removing these rear pillar/trim pieces, <snip>

THE FRONT MIRROR COVER - Pop the catches (gentle pry) at the two "bottom" corners (furthest from the headliner). Then SLIDE the assembly downwards to pop the top two catches. DO NOT PRY THE TOP CATCHES! The small piece behind the mirror mount will pop out. Install is reverse of removal - make sure those two top catches engage.

Just connect at mirror… feasible?? Simple..

And here's the extra stuff - good luck, everybody.
"Fortune Favours The Brave."

EDIT: One extra thing: The B-Pillar. I did NOT stuff it into the void here (no pics sorry) - I ended up FISHING it THROUGH the gap. So - remove the rubber trim on the front and rear doors, then you can FISH the line to bridge this pillar. There is a good sized void near the top of the trim, but fishing it it much easier as it is very tight at the seam.

Very well done tutorial. I used the drivers side which made it a cinch to run the harness for 12v power so my motion and shock detection work when car is off. That top clip on the A pillar was the impetus for a curse session, but got it after 10 mins of persistence. Same approach for getting rear cam wire to the back and mounted.

The point about keeping wires away from airbags is critical. This holds true not just for the A pillar, but also curtain airbags when running the wire for rear cam.
