  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Dead pedal lacking

I apologize for the delay in completing this project. I have worked with five different local shops on this and have invested about $200. The design work is completed and I have purchase the materials. Now I am just waiting for my preferred shop to find the time to knock out a few of these foot rests. As you can imagine, the profit to the shop on these items is relatively small and they have much higher priority jobs. Please bear with me a bit longer.

Here's a quick update on my above posting. My local fabricator still has not completed this job for me. Summertime is extremely busy for him, so we are waiting for some free time to develop. This is a small job for such stores and their pay is small, versus larger jobs.

If you are still interested in such a footrest, as described in my various posts above, please PM me. Those folks who just want to make jokes about midgets, please start your own thread.

Hey, Stop the midget jokes ``` I'm happy looking at kneecaps :D

I'm almost ready for the next car, you're taking waayyy too long with this. wouldn't putting a brick under your foot and securing it not serve the same job? I know it will slow you down and not look as fancy, but it'll get the job done and you can get them cheap enough.

When this thread first started, I had to look up "dead pedal" to see what it was. When I found out, it occurred to me that this feature might be useful in hard turns at Laguna Seca, but on my commute and occasional trips to the beach or grocery store it might not be necessary. What kind of driving are you guys doing, anyway??

Apparently the I-500?

That brick may have already hit you in the head. I already have a fine dead pedal modification on my car. See my photos in above posts. I've been attempting to make it even better and to share it with all. Do what you think is best for yourself.

thanks for the kind words. I was just wondering what exactly is taking so long and if you only have 1 choice of a shop to make this for you.

We received barely any details and it's been months. No need to get all offended, I am a potential customer after all, and others are reading this too, by the way, did you notice?

Obviously this is a custom job at a low cost. Fabricators willing to take this on are limited. I've been through a lot of them. Most laugh at the low profit they would make. I have a guy right now who is interested and can do a nice job.

By the way, my left knee has arthritis and the closer dead pedal eases all the pain, in addition to helping brace into spirited right turns.

Sorry for any sensitivity. Old Ernie has feelings too.

what price target did you set? maybe people are willing to throw in another $5 to get this quicker...

I am already eye shopping cars that didn't even come out yet...

I'm at 5'9" already my left foot starts screaming at me.
My first minor complain on top of would have been a perfect car to date.
Sub'd.

LOL...
Just ordered a dead rest pedal for the Gen coupe oem version on eBay.
Now I have the WeatherTech floor mat in between.
Will come up with a mod on my own that not only will it look good but my left foot will thank it as well.

Do you have a link to the item on eBay? I also have the WeatherTech mats and would be interested in how the coupe product matches up.

I just did a quick search on e-bay and found 88 matches for aluminum foot rest. There are none listed for Genesis but many that could/should work. I am going to measure the current foot rest and order one from the following link. I have a different problem than what is posted. I wear size 13 and my toes are bent up when I rest on the dead pedal.

Scroll down the link provided. That was the one I bought and installed in my coupe.

This link below is the one I just bought for my sedan. From the picture It doesn;t look like the same one I bought for the coupe but it won't matter anyway since I will end up modding it.

Once this mod completes, the gas/accel pedal is next on my "to-mod" list.

My left foot says a big thank you to me. :D
It feels extremely comfortable how the way my left foot is rested, especially driving in long distances.
The mod is done to the WeatherTech flloor mat only and it's sturdy, easy to clean when taking out the mat.

Here it is...

The ugly piece of rubber on the brake pedal will be gone as soon as the part comes in from S Korea but that's another mod in the making.

Nice! How did you attach to mat?

I used two screws on the back side of the mat onto a piece of 2x4 which is screwed onto the pedal itself.
The dead pedal costs $42 on eBay from the genesis coupe oem part.
(I did this on my coupe a while ago which made it easy this time around)
The blk color spay can costs $5 from Autozone (to paint over the 2x4 piece)
The whole thing costs me less than $50 plus 30 minutes of my life time.
My left foot would have been smiling if it had mouth.:D

Anyone get a good fix for this?

Otherwise I am going to make a wooden block, spay it black and add it with VELCRO !!!
