  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Debadging G70

Well, there are companies that do exactly that - most notably, Porsche and VW/Audi (at least they used to in Europe). Some people just like understated design and don't like badges on the car at all (e.g. one might feel like one is being cow-branded) - so question might be asked: why should one go through the hassle of removing it? However, Genesis doesn't have the pedigree and is merely establishing themselves in the market, so I suppose lack of such an option is understandable, to a degree.

What kind of glue would you recommend for putting it back?

3M tape cut to fit.

I removed my badges with a hot blow dryer and nothing else. They came off with no problems at all!

*ouch* de-badged the rear looks a lot like a Chrysler 200, which my neighbor has (and same color).

Not sure I'll remove everything, but the HTRAC certainly has to go....

^ yer kidding right? Zero resemblance.

I'm probably the only one with a G70 in this area, especially a white one, and I've already had 4 people out in the wild ask me, "Hey, is that Chrysler?" or, "Hey! is that the new Chrysler 200!?"

Eh, I'm done living in large metropolitan areas. Also, being the only one with a G70 because the closest authorized dealer is now 2.5 hours away is kinda nice.

Wow is really does kind of look like it. Doesn't help that the Chrysler logo is a lot more recognizable to most Americans than the Genesis logo.

It's true and it's too bad... All people see is the logo and realize that there is a vague resemblance between the two. The car, on the other hand - TOTALLY different.

Uck. A second look at that car. Chrysler's are so damn ugly. Haha.

It probably doesn't help that Genesis decided to use the overused 'wing' that so many are using. I used to be asked if my old Genesis (G80) was a Bentley. Those were better days...

No Chrysler comparisons here yet thankfully. Even my 10 year old can tell the difference in emblem width.

Some Bentley joke comments at work. Also when my neighbor's wife said she thought I bought a Bentley, he said if I did we're not going to be neighbors much longer.

I plan on debadging everything except the genesis logo. I may try to find a dark options / copper version on ebay

Just debadged my car. Took 10 mins and all I used was a hair dryer and credit card.

Thanks! I would have been ok keeping the 3.3T lettering, but it's an unnecessary flex. No regrets.

I also replaced the dealer plate cover with a black Weathertech soon after those pics were taken, though the silicone ones I saw on a recent post looked even better. This forum is a double edged sword, ha.

I love the silicone one! Color matched and sleek.

Ooh, I'd like to see that too!

I'm not a fan of a full de-badge. I think it looks like the car was rear-ended and repaired at a cheap body shop. So I will usually leave the manufacturer logo and just a trim badge. So I would go with the wings and G70 badge only. But I would relocate the G70 badge to the lower right or left of the trunk lid. It would reduce clutter but still look OE, while also being custom. I plan to have my G70 in a couple weeks, so I'll post pictures.
