  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Did your insurance company have 2019 G70 in their system?

I am with TD Meloche Monnex and pay $1519 per year. $53 of that is for occasional business use.

Oddly enough it was about $100 higher than the G80 sport that they first started charging me for (which actually costs more to buy). And about $200 more than my 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee High Altitude which actually cost slightly more when new. Obviously the sport is costing a bit more in the G70.

That said, insurance is hard to compare between different insurance companies yet alone different people because of all the variables and options. I do have 2 vehicles, and RV and a house with the company and have been with them over 15 years accident free so I like to think I have decent rates. I also have the professional accountant discount with them. You could try claiming you are a CPA as I don't think they ever checked the validity of my claim lol:cautious:
The messed up part is i got a quote for a 2018 Audi TTRS and it was 200 bucks less than my G70 ! I would just like to know if its a problem with a few insureance companies or the car itself, i can literally go get an AMG and save money, my lord

i went with Bel Air for optional coverage, and they just called back saying they need to charge me more because the VIN didn't initially come up properly in their system since it is such a new model. now that they have the correct VIN and model information, their initial quote is off. i had already received confirmed paperwork of the coverage based on the original quote and payment had been processed.

obviously the discussion for additional funds did not go as they had hoped and i will not be using them for this year's coverage.

I didn't shop around for coverage as I was in the middle of my insurance year, but I think I renew at the end of October so when I get my new pricing I will shop around and see what I get.

USAA has it. A side by side quote compared with a Kia Stinger GT2 shows the G70 running $18 More/month, for my specific case. $70/month for the Stinger, $88/month for the G70. This is obviously added to an existing policy with many discounts.

How much extra is the V6 over the 4? Is there a weight/HP formula that can kick rates way up?

Same specifics as the V6 quote above, and the 2.0T came in at $82/month. So barely less.

I played around with some of the USA based auto insurance websites. None of them have the G70. So even if were released this week...or next...are the insurance companies even ready? I use Geico.

If they don't have the car listed...what does one do? I even logged into my Geico account and tried adding the VIN that was posted on that window sticker that the gentleman from NJ posted after seeing the G70 on his street. No go.

My guess is you'd have to call in and see what they can do about getting it covered.

Might be the same as when the G70 was first available in Canada in April. My insurance company didn't have info on the G70 so they insured the car as a G80 sport to ensure it was sufficiently covered.

At my age (24), I would be pretty opposed to that idea. I would not pay more money for a car to be insured to "save the insurance company". Were talking close to $50-$100/mo the difference could be. I would have said bye bye right then and there if they suggested that to me. However, at least they worked to get you covered.

Well back in April it was a problem with many insurance companies here as the car was just released. As they didn't know what the rates were on my G70, they said they would refund any overpayment when they did get the info. Turns out though, the G70 costs more to insure than the G80 though so I ended up having to pay extra. lol

I cant speak for Edmguy, but i had 2 companies quote me on a top trim G80 sport 3.3 for insureance but the G70 came in minimum 300 dollars more.

The G70 has abnormally high insureance rates and when i say that it means as per individual, i quoted a 2018 c43 amg at $75000 and the insureance was 20 bucks a month cheaper FOR the C43

I don't know if I'm following...

The G70 was $300 less than the G80 Sport? If so, it should be and proves why I would not accept that G80 rate.

And, the G70 was $20 more than the C43? I agree, that's odd.

Please advise.

My insurance went up by about $30 a month, but given I was moving from a nine-year-old four-cylinder turbo Saab, I didn’t think that was unreasonable…

Wonder why the G70 would be more. Less car. And more safety tech (I think). Baffling.

No the G70 cost 300 more to insure than the G80. You would save money by them saying it's a G80.

My insurance company told me the G70 is considered sportier than the G80, and also its smaller size and lighter weight means the driver could sustain greater injuries in an accident and those things combined make the G70 more expensive for insurance.

I mentioned in an earlier post that my insurance went up $62 over the G80 Sport. But I think that was just for the remainder of the year that I had which was less than 6 months.

I guess that would make sense. But c'mon...the G70 is a big enough car to be safe. Or I would think. So is the G90 cheaper to insure than the G80 ?

Sign me up, coach!

I agree. I mean, short of a freak accident like the guy sitting in a parking lot with his G80 turned on and the car ends up totaled - can't prevent stuff like that. I know new cars are more to insure than older ones, but G70 to G80, we're talking the same age. Maybe because the body panels and parts for the G70 are scarce given that it is brand new?

My 2006 GTI with literally more than double the horsepower of my 2015 base Mazda 3 hatchback is much less to insure. ~$55 a month for full coverage vs about ~$85 full coverage. And the deductibles and all of the coverages are the same.
