  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Did your insurance company have 2019 G70 in their system?

So, I finally got the paperwork back of what the difference is between my 2015 Sonata Limited & the 2019 G70 Dynamic via Commerce insurance through AAA and it's only $219 extra per year. I guess that's not terrible, but not as good of a deal as others are getting.

but not as good of a deal as others are getting.

But you really shouldn’t say that since others don’t have 2015 Sonata Limited and we don’t know how god a deal you were coming from. Sounds like you did fine.

I've been looking at and have test drove a G70 3.3, and really like the car, but when I asked my agent who has my Infiniti G37S, my cost had been $360 per 6 months, the G70 would be $881 for 6 months. I have a gold plan with accident forgiveness and disappearing $500 deductible so I know I pay some extra for that. I was pretty shocked this $50K car was so much more than my $40K Infiniti was for insurance.

^ weird. my G70 insurance was actually less than my previous G37S by a few hundred annually. when i asked why, the agent said likely since there is no historical data on the G70 so it was shifted into a lower rate class. that's rare, i thought, thinking that insurance carriers would default to the most conservative approach until data is available to prove otherwise.

Really strange your rate went down from the G37S? I have Allstate and get a multi car and homeowners discount too. Figured because it’s a car with no repair history it went into a higher, more expensive category. I will probably wait until 2020 models come out and see what rates do? Otherwise I’ll shop around some with different carriers.

Shop around, see previous replies. I got better coverage for cheaper when I switched

Coverage for my G70 is not much more than my wife's WRX. Same coverage (ie maximum) for both. I'd tell you my 6 month premium, but it's pointless as coverage is different between all of us, and you can't compare premiums between states, blah blah.

Belair had a really hard time providing quotes for any Genesis except the dynamic. The wanted $1700 more annually than my 2015 Cruze. Called back for quotes on Elite and Prestige and they couldn’t look it up. Had to ask GXM for VIN’s to use for quoting purposes and they still had a hard time finding them. Long story short, difference between elite and prestige was $800 (made no sense to me and they couldn’t even explain why). Ended up pulling my multi policy and home insurance to use a broker. Now only paying $250 more than my Cruze for the prestige.

I changed to Geico after Progressive kept jacking my rates up. Got pretty good deal with full coverage (500 deductible for comp/Collison) for my 3.3T advanced at 100/300/100 for $92/month (paid 6 mo in full, clean record, multi policy/driver discount), $17/month more than the 2018 accord 1.5L. Both my wife and I are covered. It's actually cheaper than my previous 2015 genesis 3.8L.

That’s amazing. We get totally screwed in Ontario. Just for my policy, it works out to $215 monthly. Clean record, multi policy, snow tires, all discounts possible. We pay for the year just to get it over with. Like ripping off a bandage

Suburban America has its merits, we pay a lot for health insurance though so it probably evens out.

Ill be using my insurance for the first time. Got rear ended at a red light this weekend. Barely a scratch; but Im still taking it in to get inspected so they can buff it out for me and make sure there are no hairline cracks in the bumper that I cant see

Damn. That's frustrating! Let us know how it turns out.

$700 to remove and repaint the bumper. Goes to show, if its not your fault never assume the damage is minor. The person I hit tried to talk me out of filing a claim, saying they didnt see anything worth reporting. I almost agreed but decided I needed a professional opinion because damnit its a new car. Glad I did and dont have to pay

Also, the body shop is running my car in their systems as a 2018 g80. They couldn’t find G70 haha

AAA in SoCal has it as a Hyundai Genesis G70. I guess I won’t be picky as long as I’m covered.

Funny thing is that insurance on a brand new, 2019 Genesis G70 twin turbo was just $160 more a year than my 5 year old BMW 328d with 90,000 miles. I was blown away since I was expecting insurance to be significantly higher.

Got a G70 quote from Progressive that was actually lower than my Infiniti G37S was with Allstate. The G70 quote from Allstate, my present company was 2 1/2 times higher than my present Infiniti was. I can add my Miata and get multi car discounts and still save several hundred from my Allstate premiums for essentially the same 6 month policy. Guess it pays to shop around and customer loyalty and no claims means nothing. Whenever I pull the trigger on a G70 sport purchase, insurance will probably not stay with Allstate. Hopefully Progressive is not one of these companies that low-balls rates initially and then start jacking them up at renewal periods.

Unfortunately my experience over several years tells me that the first policy period will be the cheapest. You'll lose the new policy discounts and experience the usual inflation in cost (granted, this will be with any carrier) but Progressive is no better than the rest of the lot.

I can say that my experience with Progressive was not like that. My insurance premiums only ever decreased while I was with them and even after shopping around I could never find a lower rate. Only reason l left was because I just bought a new house and moving all my insurance to the new carrier was cheaper overall. If it's enough of a difference to negate the multipolicy discount on the home insurance, I may go back when I get my G70.

So my insurance company listed my 3.3t Sport as a "3.3t Design 4d" and has quoted me at $791 every 6 months. Could someone let me know if this sounds reasonable? I'm also curious if the "design" title is driving up the cost since those are actually limited run cars.
