  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Yes it does. The gear mapping ratios in the 2015 is effing amazing when it comes to hard acceleration, so even the v6 manages to push you back. However, it also depends on if you have AWD or RWD. RWD will cause wheel spin in most conditions if you press medal to the medal. Thus, interia wont act on you till your tyres are able to find traction and your car accelerates. Whereas, in AWD, you'll be pushed back almost immediately. (This is all assuming that you have pressed it pedal to the metal)

I would also like to say that my v8 Infiniti Qx56 really pushes you into the seat even when you haven't pressed pedal to the metal.

So if you're looking for that pushed back into your seat feeling, I'd suggest getting the v8.

On hyundai's global site the RWD V6's official 0-100kph time is 6.5s vs 6.8 s for AWD version. I don't think wheel spin is much of an issue on the V6 model.

I've never owned a RWD, but my friend does have a Hyundai Genesis Coupe. And that car has wheel spin. He loses about 0.3 - 0.5 seconds when he races people on the streets. (I live in the UAE, so the roads are really dry).

My friend's genesis. As you can see, he loses half a second due to wheel spin.

No wheel spin on my 2009 Sedan. The instant wheel slippage is detected the computer cuts power. If you are on ice you can floor it and it is like you are not even pushing on the gas pedal.

I wonder why the Coupe doesn't have that feature.

He probably disabled the traction control.

Coming from a 2007 Infiniti G35S, I can tell you the Genesis 3.8, while respectable, does not push you into the seat the G does. It has decent acceleration but not like a sports sedan by any stretch of the imagination. That said, it is extremely smooth and has a nice sound to it.

As the present owner of both I agree.

I think this must be more personal feel. I put 4000 miles on a 2012 G37S (had as a rental car) and it definitely made more noise st full power then my 2012 Genesis 3.8, but I don't believe it was much faster acceleration. So I would think a G35 would be not be any faster then a 3.8 Genesis.

I had a quick look at the G37 0-60 times and it is listed in the mid 5s range. So fairly comparable to the Genesis 3.8...

The Genesis's ECU does some strange things when gunned WOT from a stop that keep it from really having that instant thrust that pushes you into your seat.

Once it collects itself, the 3.8's push is pretty substantial, especially when prodding it on the go while in the mid-range revs.

In response to other comments, I only get wheel spin when it's wet, very cold, or while I'm turning and giving it gas. I don't think it's because of a lack of power but more so related to the above - the ECU doesn't send full torque to the back wheels when you gun it from a full stop. It does some behind the scene preservation tricks before really taking off.

When my 4.6 was in the shop (seat buckle issue) they lent me a 2013 3.8

I was impressed with the 3.8 for the two days I hat it... had fun. Thought to myself I coulda had the v6...

I then got my 4.6 back... it pushes a little harder than the v6.

I was happy with my choice .. but coulda lived wither way if I had the v6. It was a nice ride.

I had a loaner G37 with the 7speed auto and it was noticeably less aggressive than my G35s with the 5-speed auto. As I understand it, they made the throttle response less sensitive in the later years. I can tell you if you weren't smooth with the gas pedal, it would literally leap forward. Amazing throttle response.

FYI Video can't be played as clicking on play shows up as "Private"

Made it public! Thanks. I wonder why no one told me it was on private before. Lazy people everywhere.

I traded in my 2011 FX50 for a new Genesis AWD Ultimate... The Genni certainly holds her own on a hard acceleration and while not as much of a brute as the FX50, I have no regrets! More comfortable, better MPG and plenty of power!

My wife has the 2007 G35S and I will confirm that the throttle is that sensitive, and it's so sensitive, that I dislike driving it. I love the looks of her G35S, the asymmetric tires, but the engine/transmission set up is downright uncomfortable for this middle aged man.

My wife likes it, so that's all that matters.
