  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Driver Area Size

This is from Manual section 3-17

Easy Access Function The system will move the driver's seat and steering wheel automatically as follows: • Exiting the vehicle: The driver’s seat will move rearward and the steering wheel will move upward when the driver’s door is opened and the Engine Start/Stop button is in the OFF positon with the gear in P (Park). However, the driver’s seat may not move rearward if there is not enough space between the driver’s seat and the rear seats.

Thank you - but I think there is ample space for the seat to move rearward - 6 or more inches to be sure. I will go with the suggestion to set the seat all the way back for driver no. 2 until I have the car looked at by service.

AUTOHOLD button on the console. Bear with me - I am a Genesis Newbie after all. Since all of you are incredibly resourceful, can anyone tell me what the "autohold" button is for on the console (just behind the mode function)?

Manual 5-33

Auto Hold The Auto Hold maintains the vehicle in a standstill even though the brake pedal is not depressed after the driver brings the vehicle to a complete stop by depressing the brake pedal. To apply : White OIK057013 1. With the driver's door, engine hood and trunk closed, fasten the driver's seat belt or depress the brake pedal and then press the [AUTO HOLD] switch. The white AUTO HOLD indicator will come on and the system will be in the standby position. To release : White Green OIK057014 2. When you stop the vehicle completely by depressing the brake pedal, the Auto Hold maintains the brake pressure to hold the vehicle stationary. The indicator changes from white to green. 3. The vehicle will remain stationary even if you release the brake pedal. 4. If EPB is applied, Auto Hold will be released. • If you depress the accelerator pedal with the shift lever in D (Drive) or Manual shift mode, the Auto Hold will be released automatically and the vehicle will start to move. The AUTO HOLD indicator changes from green to white. • If the vehicle is restarted using the cruise control toggle switch (RES+ or SET-) while Auto Hold and cruise control is operating, the Auto Hold will be released regardless of accelerator pedal operation. The AUTO HOLD indicator changes from green to white. (if equipped with cruise control system) WARNING When the AUTO HOLD is automatically released by depressing the accelerator pedal, always take a look around your vehicle. Slowly depress the accelerator pedal for a smooth start.

For the time being, you may want to set your 2nd driver position to a fully extended seat with the wheel up and retracted. That way you can deactivate the auto stuff it does and just press that upon entry/exit
Unless you have a second driver, do that anyway. There are times I want to get out with the car running. I press the 3 button and everything moves back, upon reentry, push the 1.

Wow - that is quite the explanation, thanks. So do I understand that the Auto Hold more or less replaces the need to keep my foot on the brake say, at a red light or other stop? In other words, no need to put the car in Park or Neutral?

That's correct. I use it everyday. I love it.

One of the nicest features of the car. The brake lights stay on too so you are not sitting in the dark to a car coming up behind. Don't think I'd buy a car without it.

My sales dude never pointed out the function. I only discovered the button yesterday. I can see the benefit as I often put the car in neutral or park when stopped and I find it annoying to press the button and move the gear shift.

It is one of the best tech features of the car. Probably only 2nd to the HUD

I really think this explains your issue. The driver's seat has to be pretty far forward for the auto exit/entry to apply. I'm 5'11" and I sit pretty close to the wheel, but my seat never rolls back upon entry/exit. My wife, however, sits even closer to the wheel than me, and when she uses her settings the seat does move back for her upon exit/entry.

According to the manual info above, it sounds like Genesis did this on purpose for the G70, since there isn't much back room to begin with they don't want to accidentally smash a potential passenger that's sitting behind the driver.

That said, I really don't think there's anything wrong with your car.

Mmmm.....logical explanation. I will check with service to verify. Thanks so much.

That's exactly my case. With my position the seat never rolls back but with my wife settings it always rolls back because she drives way close to the steering wheel than me.

Update re AutoHold and Easy Exit. I love the AutoHold! Your're quite correct - pretty impressive feature. As for the easier exit, I set the driver 2 position all the way back and this is an acceptable solution. Thanks again for all of your input. It makes for a much happier driving experience.

For a couple years I owned a Lotus Exige with a full cage including door bars. Now that was a car that took practice to get in and out of. After that, any car is a dream to get in and out, even my BRZ.

I'm 6'3", 220lbs. I find the G70 cockpit just the right size. I like a car that surrounds the Driver. It's like the designers are saying "Here, please drive this." I've driven cars with more spacious cockpits, but I don't feel the G70 is restrictive or uncomfortable at all.

I've so far tested 5 vehicles: G70, G80, G90, Stinger, and K900. I couldn't even remotely try to get into the G70, that just wasn't happening. The G80 and G90 seemed exactly the same, it was tightish around the hips and I always bumped my head on the doorway. I also had no chance getting in the stinger, my head kept hitting at neck level with the top of the door and that just wasn't happening.

The K900 actually felt pretty good, it seemed roomier than all the others, still bumped my head a bit, but felt overall the most comfortable. Might look into that model a bit more

The K900 is a very nice car. Duggy Fresh really seemed to like it...
