  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Now that the weather is getting warm, I've started using my driver's seat air conditioner. On the highest setting (3 blue dots), I can barely tell that it's working. After a while I can feel some relatively cool spots on my back, but it definitely does not freeze my butt.

Is this performance common to all Genesis, or do I need to have my A/C serviced?

Boxers not Briefs ! - Or better yet Commando!:D

No better or worse than my previous car, a Lincoln. These A/C seats are not A/C as we think of A/C. They are cooled in a why (unknown by me) other than with cooling gas.

When the seat is very hot from sitting in the sun, yes, it takes a loooooong time to cool your butt and back. Also, various areas of the seat and seatback are cooler thanother areas. Just the nature of the beast. Like I said before, no different than my previous Lincoln.

I've only used this feature a couple times last year and it was cold enough to get a little uncomfortable.

You might want to do more of your own research.... maybe the perforations are clogged somehow? Not sure if thats even possible.

perforations can get clogged especially by babyfood. i used a tooth pic (odly enough)

to me it seems as if its not really AIR CONDITIONED...its just VENTED.

Swift moving air on a hot butt does feel like an AC is being used...however, if the seat and the cabin is HOT due to it being in the sun...it just circulates the hot air until the air in the cabin is cool.

Its like sticking your face in front of a box fan after cutting the grass. You know its not "conditioned" air...just blown air...but it still feels good!

:)

I've noticed this feature really only cools the seat (and gets very cold!) if the AC is on, basically using the cold air on the floor of the car to cool your butt;)

Very well put.
I haven't used this feature yet, but I should try it out, see how it's like. :)

I would bet any amount of money that the seat is cooled.
Don't know about yours but there's no way I could leave mine a 3 lights on for a long time. My @ss would freeze to death.

Hmmmm...well then that raises my eyebrows. My AC is on AUTO at 68 degrees...all the time.

My @ss cooler is on level 3 at all times (due to the BLACK interior) and neither my butt nor back ever gets cold. Not even close to the point to turn it down. I get a cool sensation, due to the venting of air, but its never COLD air.

I got a big butt...but it IS sensitive...so I would notice COLD air hitting rather quickly! HA!

Maybe I need to let the dealer check mine out. MY SEAT...not my butt. HA

LOL...

I think you should have the dealer check it out.
My interior is also black.
I'm 5'9" and weigh 175lbs.
My @ss is not that big either...lol
The cooled seats is one of my favorite features. I'm very impressed how well it works.

Mind you the last time I used it was last summer.

Mine is also black.
I have used it a couple of times last summer and I will tell you that I have to either lower the setting or turn it off. It gets really cold.

Have it checked out.

Hello all,

I just recently got my 4.6 + tech.pkg, which is supposed to have this cooled driver seat feature. However, the owner's book says that "if equipped", the switch to turn on the cooling is combined with the heating switch (it should have two sets of triple lights, and you can push top portion for heating, and lower portion for cooling). Which my car does not have. My Genesis has what appears to be only a "heating" switch (which, according to the manual, means there is no cooled seat). How do you turn on the cooling on the driver seat? What does your switch look like?

Thank you
Alex

Very stange. The heat/cool switch on the driver's side should look just like the heat-only switch on the passenger's side except on the lower portion there are three blue cooling lights.

For the $37K price you paid, I suspect you don't have the Tech Pkg.

37k for a non-tech v8? The dealer got it good. Is your Navigation the touchscreen? If so, you got the non-tech variant. Head back to the dealership and have them deliver the right car to you - They will have a huge mess on their hands if they didn't honor Hyundai corporate's pricing for you correctly.

$500 over invoice, $2500 under sticker doesn't sound too bad for a 2010.

If he wanted the non-tech variant, he should of paid nearly 2 grand under invoice with associate pricing. I think he was looking for the electronic brake, smart cruise control, ect - although you can add backup cameras to a non-tech variant to make it closer to the full blown tech package.
