  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Driver's seat air conditioner is anemic

Very stange. The heat/cool switch on the driver's side should look just like the heat-only switch on the passenger's side except on the lower portion there are three blue cooling lights.

I don't have them. Called the dealer; he explained that the cooling feature just works automatically with climate control. Sounds kind of odd? Can somebody upload pictures of the switch if they have both the heating and cooling lights? I will upload mine shortly.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
37k for a non-tech v8? The dealer got it good. Is your Navigation the touchscreen? If so, you got the non-tech variant. Head back to the dealership and have them deliver the right car to you - They will have a huge mess on their hands if they didn't honor Hyundai corporate's pricing for you correctly.

It is touch screen. The window sticker does not say tech. package. But it does list lots of things that are part of the tech. package, separately. What the ***

On circle pricing, did you choose the V8 Tech or base V8 "No Options"? The plan price should of been a little above 39k, I'm not sure how you came down to that original 37.5 price unless they talked you into buying one of those base V8s at the dealership.

Nope, driver's seat A/C is not automatic. You do not have the Tech package. The nav screen with the Tech package is not touch screen; it is controlled by the center console knob.

Also check if you have smart (radar) cruise control. If you do, the button to set the spacing to the car ahead is the middle button on the right side of the steering wheel. It has three distance bars.

FWIW, I've never heard of "circle pricing". Is that the same as Associate Pricing? HAPP?

If so, you're right: the price should've been under invoice, not over.

I got it. I do not have tech. package. The Hyundai Circle site had found this car for me, and I indicated the Tech Pkg when I was searching for it. Also the dealer specifically confirmed that the car had it. I called the sales person and explained the situation; he said he'd look into it and call back. What is my recourse now?

yes, the Hyundai Circle is a replacement for HAPP, started just few weeks ago. Here is the info from their web-site (it looks like the dealer was sure they were selling me a car with tech pkg):

Year/Model: 2010/Genesis
Package: Technology Package
Color: White satin pearl
MSRP: 40300
Invoice: 37590
Plan Price: 36405

Looks like they screwed up. That MSRP is wrong for the Tech Package. Though the dealer should've known better...

First thing I'd do though is either start a new thread on this specific topic, or move the conversation to Price Paid. Not too many people will see this under Anemic Air Cooled Seats.

LOL...

I think you should have the dealer check it out.
My interior is also black.
I'm 5'9" and weigh 175lbs.
My @ss is not that big either...lol
The cooled seats is one of my favorite features. I'm very impressed how well it works.

Mind you the last time I used it was last summer.

I'm 5'10", 175lbs.
Tried out the cooling feature and I agree, it's works pretty good.
After about 3 minutes, my butt gets cold and I have to either turn it off or turn down a notch or two.
I wish my passenger could've enjoyed this feature. :(

To reply to an earlier comment in this thread, many cooled automotive seats use peltier modules to pump the heat out. These are the little thermoelectric modules that are used in coolers that you plug into the cigarette lighter, amongst other uses. They're also used in cars with refrigerated console bins, etc. They are solid-state, with no moving parts...apply power, and one side gets hot, the other gets cold. You just blow air over them to remove the heat...ditto, the cold side. They are limited in how much heat they can pump, but they are inexpensive and simple to implement. Originally developed for use in spacecraft back in the Apollo days, if I recall correctly.

Regardless of hardware, the Genesis seats are actively cooled, not just ventilated. I don't know if the Genesis uses the peltier modules or not, but it's likely, as most cars do it this way.

I once posted a comment about why I thought the passenger side doesn't have cooling, aside from the obvious cost implications...I figured that it may be an electric power limitation, considering all of the other power equipment on the car. You don't want the car to get into a state for any length of time where it's discharging the battery faster than the alternator can replace it. If you turn on the lights, rear window defroster, mirror heaters, seat heater and/or cooler, climate control, and the entertainment system, electrohydraulic steering, etc., you're talking about some serious amperage. While some of these wouldn't be used together, the point is that there may be some iffy situations, and Hyundai wants to limit the possibilities to some extent.

I would disagree with the statement that the seat AC is insufficient. It was 92 yesterday in Houston, so was kind of hot sitting in a leather seat. Turning on the AC - maximum setting got uncomfortably cold way too fast - had to switch to 2 level and kept it there. Just my 2c

I'm thinking some of you might have cooling seats that are not functioning at 100%

The only reason why I said this is because when I have my cooling seat feature on and wearing jeans I have to turn it off because my ass feels like it is frost bitten.

Just like my heat feature. The driver side heat is HOT. So hot I can't keep it on long before I have to shut it off or put it on level 1.

The passenger side heat is not as powerful I'll add. I can keep it on level 3 for ever and not get hot buns.

Mine works pretty well in about 1 1/2 minute. Setting 3 too cold actually.

Thanks for the in-depth information about the cooling feature.
I have to disagree about the power limitation, however.
KDM versions have cooling features for both the fronts while having MUCH more electronics in the car such as rear monitors, motorized & heated rear seats, motorized trunk, electromagnetic shocks, etc.

My recently acquired 3.9 will freeze my butt here in FL after the car has sat in the sun for several hours, even on setting 1.
