  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just bought a 2011 3.8 Premium/Nav and have a Verizon Wireless Droid Incredible (HTC) which has approx 3,000 contacts in the phone's address book.

Wanting to drive hands free I used the bluetooth connection between the two but upon connecting and automatically trying to sync/download my phonebook into the car's memory, the whole nav function becomes erratic.

The live map does not update but rather does so while driving in spurts with frequent freeze ups, the backup camera often goes black, and the on-screen buttons become often unresponsive.

Uncoupling the phone returns all functions to normal.

Has anyone else tried to connect a phone with large address book? very disappointed if I need to still wear an ear bluetooth earphone instead of the car connection especially given my past cars, Infiniti and BMW never had a problem with this.

Any experiences?

I have a 2011 4.6 and a Droid Incredible. I have had no problems with address book load/sync and my Nav system. That said I am not sure if the Nav systems in the 3.8 and 4.6 are the same.

Do you really need 3000 contacts in your Genesis? Not talking about in your Droid phone, but in your Genesis? In my Genesis, I only have the contacts that I call most often. If I need to call some else, I just dig out my phone, find the contact I want, and push the "send" button. I then put my phone back down, and the bluetooth takes over, calling the contact. I.E, I still talk over the bluetooth, I just call the seldom called people using the phone.

3000 Contacts?????

CTRCBOB - I agree with you completely. I do not need all of my addresses in the car address book at all, but I cannot seem to selectively sync them. The 2011 non-tech Nav unit seems to grab all of them as the only outcome once the phone and car connect with each other.

If there is a way to select which ones, or better yet, NONE AT ALL, I'd be thrilled. I have no real need to have any of my phone numbers stored in the car.

Any ideas about telling the nav unit to NOT grab the phone numbers from the phone on the 2011 car?

Any help at all would be GREATLY appreciated.

Marc

Ive never been able to get the address book to upload from my iphone...

Don't know about your Non Tech, but with my Tech, I just enter only the most used numbers into my Genesis. If I want to call any of the others in my phone, I just check my phone's phone list and hit send and put the phone away. It then calls from the cars bluetooth.

I know,,,, taking my eyes off the road to look up a number in the cell phone is dangerous. (I.E. don't do it - Don't do as I do, do as I say do).

I guess my car's different. For whatever reason it forces the download of all phone contacts into memory which just renders the nav unusable. I wish I could stop it, or be selective but neither seem to be an option on the '11 3.8 V6 non-tech.

Anyone else have any experience with large phone books in the 2011 Genesis?
