If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Early Owner Feedback

It was warm enough for me to test out the cooled seats. They blow much stronger on my back then my last car did. Happy with that

I think the gas issues some are experiencing is most likely because the engine is still pretty new. I've always understood that mpg increases as the engine wears in (from new) and increases still even after the break-in period. I wouldn't be surprised if you see an increase in the next 6mo-1year, provided you're not stomping on it of course. My $0.89.

Actually with today's engines they don't need the same breakin as years ago. In fact when the manual talks about breaking in the car it's sometimes more for the drive train (standards) in many cases. You might see a 1 to 2 mpg difference as you add miles. Also you might take a hit with winters gas vs summers gas at the pump. My G80 from day 1 to today the gas mileage hasn't change a bit.

I get it. But the mileage is low so the cost per trip will be low (what does it come out to be?) even if the economy is low. So is it really significant? Your call.

This will be my comute 3 times times a day for 5 days a week so just putting the info out there for people that make multiple small trips a day.

Then get used to poor mileage. I make a 2 mile trip on occasion, 2 or 3 times a week. When cold, temperature near freezing, I get 9 mpg. On the return, after a bit of warm up, I get 12 mpg for the return. In warmer weather I get 12 mpg on the first let and 16 on the return. Longer trips around town gets 18 to 20 mpg. I just stopped for the day after 500 miles and with both high speed and traffic jams I got 25.2.

Alright so I watched closely today. In the first few KM my usage is about 15L/100KM but after that it goes down to an average of 11.9.

Watching the real-time usage it looks about right. It's really dependent on your driving habits, distance, and type of travel.

I'm suburbish city to highway to suburbish, ~35KM twice per day.

I'll see what I get when I take my girlfriend home to Vancouver proper. That'll be suburbish city to highway to city (but not downtown). I think the average will still work out pretty similar to what I already get.

I'm guessing it's the short trips with more bursty movements that's doing you in.

It's actually 9.8 MPG.

24L / 100km
6.34013 Gal / 62.1371 miles

That is brutal...I don't believe it...impossible. That would be about right if you are absolutely mashing the pedal.

Did you check for a leak in your gas tank. :)

So without the highway I got 12.1L/100KM. With the highway I got 10.9 for the ~60KM trip.

This was half comfort and half sport.

That sounds more like what I'd expect. WIth very short trips, the initial start-up and idling factor in to a greater extent. Their impact is negligible as trips get longer.

Different engine, but I went on an extended test drive with a 2.0T Elite and got the following numbers:

  • 7.7L/100km in city driving over 24 km in Eco mode with some short bursts of acceleration
  • 8.2L/100km in city driving over 56 km in Eco mode while being in heavier traffic with some short bursts of acceleration

I'm on my second tank now and my mileage has vastly improved. I wonder if they left the car idling for an extended period of time before I took possession. That would perhaps explain the poor mileage on the initial tank?

Ok, that's good to know - I was starting to get worried that the car would bankrupt me - these last couple of days with gas at $1.30/L have been brutal.

I felt the same way about the fuel and i also noticed a difference on the 2nd tank on 3rd tank now but still not great

New engines are tight. You won't see max until you are about 2000km.. Very short trips are terrible too. If I go 3km to the store with cold engine, the mileage on the trip back is 50% better but still far less than a longer trip.

We don't like to leave customer cars idling so we didn't do that to your G70. Your mileage does get better after the first tank based on customer feedback and with our own demos.

$1.30, must be nice. we are over $1.60 for regular now, and ~$1.80 for premium!

Yeah, you guys in BC have it rough. This pipeline war is hitting you guys harder than us, I think....

It does vary car to car, but I wouldn't be surprised if these folks saw more than 1-2 mpg. I've never heard that the break-in was prioritized for the drivetrain over the engine (when I've had built Talon engine swapped in there was a recommended break in period). But that's just me.

Hi guys, new member here and just picked up a G70 Sport 3.3T last week in Himalayan Grey with the red stitched interior.

Some of my first impressions:

Good:
Engine/Steering/Suspension - Not sure when I will tire from this but so far I am loving the ride/handling balance. Throttle and steering response is great, especially in sport. I would like a little more of a difference in the suspension between sport and comfort (a tiny bit softer in comfort would be good for the highway). My last 4 cars have been BMW's with the last one being an F10 535 that I hated because it was too soft, but this reminds me of how much fun I had in my E90 and in fact I think it is even more fun.

The interior is great. Seats are really comfortable and I love the look of all the stitching.

Genesis welcome light from the mirrors is a nice touch I didn't know about until I bought the car.

HUD is better than I expected, shows a lot of useful info.

Active steering is much better than I was expecting. This wasn't something I was really interested in but it does a pretty good job of lane centering. I do find that it tends to hug the left side of the lane during bends in the road which is good on a left bend, but when it is turning right and stays to the left lane if feels awkward.

Genesis connected app seems to be pretty good. Slow, but I like all the info. Also wish you could run the car for more than 10 minutes and it doesn't look like I have control over the heat/ac on the seats like the demo videos show. But I need to spend more time with it. I just got my first "monthly health report" and while kind of gimicky, it is kind of cool.

Dealer experience - one of the main reasons I wanted to try the brand and I was really impressed with how I was treated on my two test drives and the delivery of the car via enclosed trailer was great. I hope when the vehicle needs service they can maintain these standards.

Bad:
I HATE that they cheaped out on the keyless access. Only the front door handles have remote access and lock and unlock are both via a button which seems cheap. Even the Ford Fusion has sensors for lock and unlock on all four doors. I find this irritating as I have kids and typically first open a rear door.

Another place they cheaped out on was the rear signals. The non LED bulbs don't look good and again this is something many cheaper cars (including the Kia Stinger) have and wouldn't have cost much to put in.

IP looks cheap. Worst part of the interior imo. Looks like it came from a car 5 years old. The menus and info available on the screen isn't great either. Seems half baked. Really would have liked a full digital display.

NAV screen could be bigger. I think a 9-10" screen in a wider ratio would look better and there is definitely room.

None of the "bad" is really that bad, more pet peeves and what really bothers me is they could have fixed all of that for maybe an extra grand on the price and the car would have still been a great value.

For anyone interested, I also looked at G50 red sport (didn't like the handling and it is too dated), TLX A Spec (too slow and feels old inside), Kia Stinger (this one was close as I liked the bigger back seat and hatch, but didn't like the look-at-me styling as much and hated the dealers). I had 4 BMW's before this and decided to stay away from the German's this time as they are getting just too damn expensive as I drive about 26-28K a year so I wanted something still fun with some luxury but reasonable on price. G70 seemed like the best fit.

Anyway, kind of long but also glad to see there are a few other guys from Edmonton on here. I am sure I will see your cars on the road soon. :)

All great points which i agree with you on all of them, i have no doubt that we purchased the best vehicle we could get for $60000 keep us updated on your impressions as i still keep finding things i like/dislike about mine, let me know what you think of the fuel consumption as mine tends to gobble it up pretty quick lol
