  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Eelectric Exhaust Cut Outs

Getting oil changed at dealer. I was asked to come out into the shop and explain my new exhaust. Fun to have all the shop giving a thumbs up. Of course this lead to a fun demo inside the shop garage before leaving. :p

Apologies if this is a dumb question, but why is the X-pipe required? couldn't each cutout valve simply be attached via a Y-pipe each side ? What does coupling the two pipes via the X-pipe accomplish?

Mark, great question. The answer is yes, you do not need the x-pipe. We thought about no X-pipe, but figured the proven x-pipe design was needed for the V8 flow rates and possible droning in the cabin. It was a decision I left up to my installer. Otherwise, I would have just welded the valves in. I'm sure my mechanic liked the $$$$'s too. :)

The stock resonator has a t-pipe design in it, so we tried to stay close to what Hyundai did.

I'm wondering this as well. Also, I was thinking about this today. You would need an X pipe to get the most out of these cutouts. If you install the cutouts on a straight pipe, you wont get a ton of outflow. Not as much as putting them on the bend of an X pipe....

what did this whole setup run you with labor, is there any drone inside when valves are open, and drone when closed.

All of this has been answered if you would only take the time to read the thread.

who are you the hyundai forum nazi? you wasted your time just answering me with a worthless answer. since you read the whole thread why didnt you just tell me what i asked for then. some people.

Actually it is people like you that are sooo lazy they screw up these forums. The answer is right under your nose but you refuse the read a single page. Wait, You only look at pictures.

Drive 200. I like your modification, particularly usage of X pipes. But I wonder if you considered attaching/welding the electronic exhaust cutout valve to the Motorsports Authority cat-delete pipe? It seems to me that there is enough room.

i was in a hurry and didnt have time to read through the post. so i asked nicely what was the cost and you wasted my time and yours by writing a totally useless answer., About being lazy i'm not lazy, quite the opposite, I was in a hurry to go coach my sons game, which i don' think is being lazy. Why even respond? To waste space like you probably do in your daily life every day. there are people like you on every forum that seem to just have the need to be an a** for no reason. And now i am wasting my time responding, thanks for being useless to me on this thread.

Question for the OP. Do you think I could call your buddy there and have him weld in the Cutouts to the x-pipe and ship them to me? You can PM me if you'd like.

Hey guys, been gone awhile. Here are some answers to above:

* there is not any room where the MSA cat deletes are to place the exhaust valves. The motor servo assembly is really big & our cars have a flat bottom with not many open spaces to add items.

* any of you can call Andre at Abel Racing and ask for completed welds. However, I would assume its a "on site job" to test for fitting. I know he should have taken measurements for multiple set ups.

Here are two easier ideas:

1. Don't use X-pipe at all and just weld in valves with straight pipe replacing stock resonator. We just added X-pipe b/c we felt history has proven the design to work on V8's & the stock resonator has a T design. I gained a few HP (361 vs 357). You might add/lose a few HP??

2. There is room to add valves just before stock mufflers. You would need to make bracket for support maybe. (concern is seeing the valves hang down from under car)

Thanks. The x-pipe is a very smart move. Gets the most exhaust flow possible out of the cut-outs because of it.

I will probably give him a call and ask him about doing an x-pipe for me. He should let me worry about where to put it ;)

However, I need to call some of the companies that make these cut-outs and ask them about corrosion resistance :/

Cool! That's a good point about corrosion. I would hope any manufacturer would have thought of that. I think mine are aluminum?? I might be totally wrong.

Racereadyperformance.com

From what I have read they are 6061-T6 (not sure how much you know about aluminium). 6061-T6 is pretty durable but my questions is what are the motor shafts made out of? I leave in a high salt area and I'm worried about them freezing (corroding) in place. THAT would suck haha

Please excuse me while I update this thread.

I called race ready performance. I asked them if these hold up in winter. He had to call me back. Got a call back and he told me this: "You can keep these on all winter, however, any damage that occurs because of water or salt (or a combination of the two) will void the warranty." So I asked him if I could take these off for the winter. He said that if I installed the bolt on cut-outs then I could. I would have to buy or make a block-off plate however.

I then called Quick Time Performance (QTP) and asked them the same question. He informed me that these cut-outs aren't really made for winter use either and I have two options to keep the warranty in tact. Option 1 is to spray the cut-outs weekly with WD-40 or Liquid Wrench. Option two was to take them off and install the INCLUDED block off plates.

Needless to say...I think I'm going to be purchasing the QTP cut-outs. Not to mention, I know the gearbox that race ready is using. I have personal experience with them and just personally don't like them. However, they stand up to TONS of abuse lol.

Hope this helps us northerners!

I would not plan to use this in winter. Only a few bolts to put the original back in place so might as well do so for the winter months to avoid any issues IMHO.

If anybody plans on getting the x pipe with cutouts welded in I am in for a set. The rest is easy enough that any muffler shop can fit it.

Think we can start a group buy on that x-pipe?

Also, I will remove these for winter as well. 6 bolts isn't anything! I have the car in the air anyway haha.
