  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Electric GV70

Does my utility company know something I don't? I have an app on my phone from the provincial electricity supplier (BC Hydro) which helps facilitate EV charging. I brought to their attention recently that the app doesn't include the electrified GV70 as one of the models that you can register as being your EV. It had the GV60 and the electrified G80. After a little back and forth they finally added the electrified GV70, great. BUT....I also noticed they have a GV80 in there as another option for you to register as being your EV, and it specifically states that it has an 87.2 kW battery.

Very interesting! What are the Genesis dealerships not telling us?!?

The next generation are going to have the 87 KW battery pack.

Although it would be a great option, I doubt it will arrive before the next generation. I read a lot about upcoming products (Pretty sure you do too...😉) and there's nothing on the radar for the current GV80 to go fully electric, it's also pretty late in this generation's lifecycle to do so. Looks more like a typo in their database...😉

However, considering the GV70 will soon have its mid-cycle refresh and the Ioniq5 will now get said 87KW battery, I wouldn't be surprised if the Electrified GV70 gets it too in a year or so. Extra range is always good, but the trade-off is extra weight, not sure how that would impact the car's dynamics.

Yeah, I was told the GV80 would be going full EV in its 2nd gen iteration (not in the refresh that's about to be available this fall), but it's just kinda funny that the Hydro company is getting soooooooo ahead of things by making that an option on the app. Lol

Interesting how much stuff can be collected by our cars and sold back to insurers...!

I got my 12 000 km service a few months ago, I see a lot og GV60's, a few GV70's and GV80's, some G70's and the G80's are rare (I have yet to see my first G90).

I saw another Electrified GV70 a few weeks after getting mine, last June or July (It came next to mine on the highway, a Malaku Gray metallic one and the driver waved at me), but I have yet to make another such encounter in the wild. Gas GV70's I see about once a week but the electric version is so rare, I actually had two ICE GV70's make a very slow pass with the drivers staring at mine...
Just curious, what does the 12000 KM service entail? There's no oil to change lol. My blinker fluid is topped off....just curious.

I'd say it's more an inspection and addressing whatever pending recalls (Like "reprogramming taillights") than anything else...!

You can download the 669 page PDF copy of the USA 2023 GV70 Electrified Owner's Manual here:

Maintenance info is in Chapter 9. See page 9-8 to 9-11 for tables of what is to be done. Basically nothing except for tire rotation, cabin air filter and brake fluid replacement. Other than that, it's only inspections. No service even indicated for the brakes which seems very unusual, although it does say to repair or replace anything if the inspection shows an issue, but no actual scheduled service.

Still haven't gotten around to taking any proper new photos of the Matterhorn White but did snap this quick photo earlier today. It positively glows in sunlight!

First issue with our car. All illumination in the charge port housing (white LED used for ambient lighting and the 3 segment green LED for charge status) are both not working. Also, there’s a button inside the housing to override scheduled charging and start the charge process, and that button doesn’t work either. Car was going in for the first scheduled maintenance, whatever that involves, visit today so the timing was good. There’s no effect to charging and the voice prompts still work.

I didn't even realize there's a button to override scheduled charging. Hope everything gets fixed for you during this visit to the dealer! Keep us posted.

Yes, just read about it, though it finally has interesting numbers for charging, power and range, I can't really say wow because it looks just like any other Audi - Not that the design is bad, it is instantly recognizable, but I just don't see a spec of originality in it. You can still see the lineage to the first generation Q5 and I was (Wrongfully) hoping they would get more daring. They need an original TT moment that breaks the mold for the whole lineup (The A5 and A3 are nice though).

It's a heritage Genesis doesn't have to live with, surprise is easier to attain when there's no expectations. However, although I really like the GV70's looks, I'm a bit scared with parent company's Hyundai history of going clean sheet at every refresh (The Santa Fe comes to mind, some very forgettable iterations and the new one showing up as a Range Rover wannabe). I hope Genesis sticks to its inspired start because they have a good thing going.

Good points you're making. I think the SQ6 interior is quite nice though. But I am still more likely to wait for the all-new next-gen GV80. Or maybe the new Aston Vantage. Lol

I find the GV70 to be just the right size for me, I don't see myself at the helm of a big barge like the GV80...

Astons look super nice but I couldn't justify spending on that, not to mention they hover in another realm price-wise that the only way for me to reach would be by selling organs I'm not done using...! 😉

Parts on order. It doesn’t affect charging so the repair isn’t urgent.

There is a recall concerning the ICE GV70's transmission (Doesn't concern the EV which just doesn't have this part): Genesis GV70 Recalled After SUV Rolls Away Injuring Person | Carscoops

On a side note for Waze user, there is now a Ghostbusters theme available where the arrow is replaced with Ecto-1 and the directions are given by Dan Aykroyd...😉
