Engine Oil Change

Picked up 2 6-quart packs of 5W-30 mobil 1 at Costco for $28+$2 tax each ($10 off through 2/21/16). Took car in to dealer for oil change, I left with 4 quarts (3.8L). Was charged $25 for labor (includes tax) and $9 for filter. Total cost for the change was about $74.

How many miles will you expect to get with the Mobile 1 before needing to change. I just picked up a 2016 3.8 Ultimate and the documentation says to do the first oil change at 3,000 and than 7,500 after that. I am assuming they will use only conventional oil at the dealers. 7,500 seems like a lot of miles. Any thoughts?

I always do my first oil change at 500 miles then start the manufacturers recommendation i.e 7500 miles. Mobile 1 will do fine for 7500 miles as the engine is naturally aspirated so the oil isn't as stressed as a turbo motor.

Not sure if it was clear but I used full synthetic which will last 7,500+ miles. I plan on checking the oil at 5,000 to see how dirty it is, but it should be fine where I'm at based on prior cars.

I have used Mobile One synthetic with 7,500 mile change intervals for many years. My previous '05 MB E320 diesel had a factory recommended change interval of 10,000 miles using Mobile One (it was the factory fill). Mobile One will certainly go 7,000.

If you start using Mobil 1, instead of Mobile One, your oil will probably last even longer.
