If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Re: Exhaust---Borla has it on the racks!! UPDATE 04-07-10

Alvint-

I have a few questions about your Genesis dyno runs. I am a motorcycle man and we always do dyno runs in one gear, either 4th or 5th to show HP and torque.

1) Why are your dyno runs done in automatic? If a person wants full power in this car he will be handshifting. Why don't you do it in one gear like the motorcycle people do?

2) Why does your runs for the Genesis drop off at +- 143 mph? Is that all the fast your dyno will record? Did rev limiters on the car kick in? The dynos for motorcycles goes up to 200 mph.

Thank you-

After snooping around on different forums, I have found some information for all of you who are sincerely interested in purchasing a discounted, limited-quantity of 5, Borla cat-back system.

Due to forum rules and regulations, I am not allowed to post the specific web-site or even a link for you to follow.

What I can say is that if you are interested in becoming a owner of a discounted Borla Cat-back system please call Jim Rimmer at 1-480-966-3040 ext 246. and mention specifically that you are from Genesis Forums.

If you are even thinking about it...call him immediately because the 5 systems will probably be gone...rather quickly!!!

is anyone getting the cat-back system? any questions about the system?......

I want to get the system, and really look forward to letting the beast breathe better!

I'm all for making noise with WOT, but would prefer not to get 'hynotized' by a semi-drone at cruising speeds. Alvin kind of hinted that there would be a noticable noise - is that true?
I'd love to learn the mod for stability control, and hope it isn't removing the F*s*
I'd also like to mod the gas pedal response, anyone have that (without paying $400)
One more thing, in the install instructions for the pipes there are two rounds shown on either side.
Does anyone know why they aren't ovals like the factory configuration?

just ordered the exhaust.

I've got the shakes now, giddy as hell!

You ordered the Borla exhaust? There are a couple other guys on the forum that bought the Magnaflow.... any chance you can take some vid of your exhaust when you get it installed?

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
A little more food for thought:
Among many, many others, I called the dealer to ask how much they would charge to replace the exhaust....
At first he thought I wanted him to find me an exhaust (then maybe install it), but I told him that I found one and it is on the way. I explained that it is a Borla exhaust, and it is from the cat back .....(talked about the x pipe etc)
He says: "$47.50"
I swear I asked him at least three more times!
After thinking about for a few days, I remembered the work they had to do with the driveshaft and its shaking (see other post) - the exhaust needs to be removed to remove the drive shaft!
These guys probably know how to do the exhaust bit in their sleep and swapping it out will be a breeze.

Moral to the story?
Although counterintuitive, it doesn't hurt to ask even the dealer!

You're right. It doesn't hurt to ask.
Go buy a box of donuts as you bring in the car and ask nicely to the service manager with respect.
I'm sure he'll be able to work something out.
Good luck!

I may have mis-communicated

The service manager is happy to replace the exhaust, and will only charge me $47.50
The previous quote I got was $200. Someone on this forum mentioned a quote for $100....

So is the obvious assumption you're going with the dealer? For $50 bucks that aint bad at all!!!

Just called him and made the appointment.

Funny thing is, they've had my exhaust off so many times already, I could have probably slipped this one in and had it put on for free!
To troubleshoot the propeller shaft (vibrations), they've had to remove the exhaust every time they needed access to the shafts

The service manager said he'll have the same guy do the swap, as he's he tons of experience removing it :)

Hence my suggestion of offering them a box of donuts for a free installation. :)

I gotta say that sounds really good!!! thanks for taking the time to post a video... What exhaust did you get from Borla? Or is there only one to choose for the Genesis?

I had no choice. It appears there's only one option .....

Where's the best price for the Borla? I'm partial to them cause of the Stinger I had on my Vette. Might as well get another for the Genesis...
