  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I got a text, email from genesis connected services, and the car flashing i hit 1000 miles and first service is required. i consult the manaual and it says 6k miles is first oil change. I am thinking maybe the service interval just wasnt set right? can someone confirm there is no actual 1000 mile special service before i reset my service interval.

I believe the interval was just set incorrectly, just contact your dealer to get it sorted.

You can clear the service recommendation in the settings menu. At the earliest I would bring it in for service at 3000 miles, otherwise wait until 6k.

Which dealer you planning on going to? I thought I saw on the Genesis site another dealer coming online closer to Portland...

I also got this same message by the way. Does anyone know if you can get it service at a regular Hyundai dealer? The nearest Genesis in my area is 2 hours away.

^ Has to be a Genesis dealer certified to work on 2019+ cars.

Normally no. There have been some exceptions where no dealer was nearby but I have no idea what the distance was. You have to contact Genesis customer service for any approval on that. Of course, if you want to pay you can take it anywhere.

You would be considered an "Unassigned Genesis Brand Owner" and you can take it for service to a Hyundai dealer that agrees to service it. Here are some details on that:

Valet Service and "Unassigned Genesis Brand Owner"

Thank you kind sir!

You're welcome. Give Genesis Customer Service a call and they should be able to set things up for you. If you could, let us know how the process goes.

Will do. I have a 1k maintenence message in my car that sounds like it could have been an error in programing. I'm still going to take it in under the pretense that I don't know how to clear it just to get the wheels moving for future services. I will keep ya'll posted.

^ this all sounds like BS to me...I would be very careful.

Would you ever take your car to a service department that has never seen your car, doesn’t have specialized techs for your car and doesn’t stock any parts for your car?

Not just for your car...but any car from the brand Genesis.

So sure...you might find a way that a Hyundai dealer will look at it...but good luck with that nightmare!!!!! To add...you’d never be able to take advantage of all the great advantages a Genesis dealer offers.

If the dealer sold the Hyundai models in the past, why not? At least for simple service like oil changes, tire rotation, etc. If you have a G80 is it nearly identical to the 2015 model they have been servicing for years.

Maybe not for tinkering with the ECU of my G70 though.

For one...Hyundai/Genesis prior to 2019 models do not use fully synthetic oil. So right there...you will be putting in worse oil in your car than a 2019+ Genesis dealer would.

Tire rotation...sure. If you don't care about your oil...sure. Other than that...I would be concerned.

There is a reason why Genesis is supposed to have fully trained techs for their particular cars. A Hyundai tech does not meet that criteria.

Every oil change I got in my 2015 and 2018 was full synthetic by the Hyundai dealer. Takes but a few seconds to verify what they will use.

Here in South Florida Genesis dealers are not using synthetic oil in our G70. If you want it you need to pay extra.
