  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Fog Light Harness in the 3.8L?

I was also thinking about this one but there was a warning in the manual stating that turning on the fog light for a long period of time which your option is to always run it will drain the battery fast.

Seems like the opposite. People are spending hundreds of dollars on lights and installing them without wiring because the stock car doesnt support it

Sure it's working, driving with them on all the time, for 2 months , no battery drain, or any other issues.
Spent only around $400 for the fog lights from eBay and around $70 for wiring , it was done within few hours. It's not factory wiring and I can't switch them off, but I have them on , and as I said no issues regarding the battery.

How did you wire yours? Why did it cost so much? I was thinking just a direct connection to the fuse box.

They was wired direct wire to fuse box.
The installation was costing too much? I didn't do myself, and with the wires and fittings and labor , $70 I think it's not that expensive
Here are some pics

OK. You paid someone that's definitely worth $70. Did you get the correct connectors to plug into the fog lights? If so do you have a part #? Thanks.

Looks like he connected to the wire which goes to feed front lights,I am not quite sure, because someone who I paid got all the wires and connectors ,as far as I know everything he got, came from Autozone. Sorry , don't know much more

OK thanks. I will figure it out when I get the lamps. Enjoy!

I'm wanting to install FOG lights also, Can i tie into the DRL?? when the DRL are on fogs will be on & when DRL are off fogs will be off???

Yes you would have to wire a relay that turns on the fogs when they come on. The relay will get a signal when they are turned on and it will turn on the dedicated circuit you run to the fogs.

Why does it seem so difficult for people wanting the option of having fog lights to run power from the switched side of the fuse block to an on/off switch (placed wherever you'd like under the dashboard) and then out to the fog lights  ?
It wasn't that long ago that fog lights were not available as a factory option - on any car . A below dash switch that could turn on/off the lights was really the only option available. You also had to be creative in where you'd mount the fog lights as no factory mounting spaces were available (think holes drilled through chrome bumpers to hold mounting brackets :)). The tough part of fixing what Hyundai didn't want to give the US V-6 Genesis sedans is justifying the ripoff aftermarket price for the fog lights.
Correct if wrong but a manufacture who has fog lights factory available must build into the control system a way to not have the fogs and high beams on at the same time. Are aftermarket systems illegal if all front lights can or are being run at the same time?

Agreed K-I-S-S..... No need for relays, a simple switch or wire them to an acc spot in the fuse box that gives power when the car is on.....

That looks great! Did you have to remove the bumper to switch those? Sorry if this has been discussed in prior pages.

You don't need to remove the bumper to install the fog lights. You just need to remove the front belly pan - be prepared to get your hands/forearms cut up a little as there are a few sharp pieces you have to reach around to reinstall the fasteners on the foglights by feel.

Thanks for info! I am really on the fence with this one. I am leasing the car cause I am not keeping this one past 3 yrs. But its poor lighting at night (compare to other cars I had) is starting to get annoying.

Double-check the head-light alignment. Most Genesis seem to come from the factory with the headlights aimed way to low. Raising the aiming point a bit can help a lot.

++1!

Could you summarize the parts you purchased to connect the fogs to the fuse box?

Thanks

I didn't do the wiring myself, just helped with bumper removing and tool handle :) I don't know much of car electrical wiring. But I know the installer bought some wires and some relays and I guess that's it. When you scroll back this thread there is some pics where wire comes in the fuse box connected with ,I guess the relay

Still cannot figure out Hyundai USA philosophy on not having LED fog lamps on the V-6 when you can clearly get them on all lesser Hyundai models. $52K for AWD Ultimate without LED scuff plates and fogs is non-sensical as well as not having the V8 AWD option available to our neighbors North of the border. Perhaps 2016 change- hoping as when I replace current model.

THis will be my next project when weather gets better here in NYC.
Question. How do I go about connecting wires to this plug behind the fog housing?

EDIT: I'm not trying to install 5.0 stalk. Just OEM fogs with switch on cabin fuse box cover. Anyone?
