In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Fog Light Harness in the 3.8L?

ROIKINS, THE PART NUMBER IS GOOD (93400-B1450-4X) I use this VIN KMHGN4JF3FU039172 to order my switch today will have the switch on Dec 11, in PM. We can not order the wiring harness. I am going to have someone from dealer ship to come out to my house to install the switch to much work to get the plastic cover off to get to the steering wheel. I HAVE THE BUMPER OFF NOW after I get switch install I can test the pin on the front where the plugs are to make the wiring harness to plug into them. I going to remove the cap tomorrow from the front plug to see what kind of connector I will need to complete the project. I hope to have my baby back on the road by Sun.:)

If you order online you can save your self about $80 bucks. You have my number call if you need any more help.

WOW, thank you very very much for that info !!!
I will go the same route too :) Yessss , finally :)
Thanks again. I will give you a call tomorrow, just to clarify some things, if you don't mind:)
Thanks again!!!

They turn on with DRL , and also with main lights. I keep my switch to Auto mode , I can't turn them off separately. Only way to turn them off is turn off DRL. Here are some pics of wiring.

I am trying to do what you did. How did you connect that to the actual light's plug? I could not find anything that matches the plug. Did you use two separate connectors?

I am not quite sure, someone else did it. He got the connectors from AutoZone , but what kind and what's the part number I don't know. I can try to make some pics tomorrow.

Thanks that would be great. I got mine working but the connections arent as good as they should be. Im afraid they will rot or get loose.

Since I'm having the body shop fix the ding in my front bumper cover, they have to clear coat the entire bumper cover.

They are removing the grille and fog light covers. I'm having them put the replacement fog lights back instead of the covers. I'll cap the connectors and worry about wiring them up later.

I had the mechanic from the Dealership here at my house 12/13/14, to install the switch. Bad news the wiring is not install for the fog lamps in the dash in our car, save your money. We can not use the 2 gray pugs and the 1 brown plug in front for fog lamps. I going to wire into the head lamps.

It surprises me that it makes more economic sense to have variants of the wiring harness that save a few cents by leaving out some wire and connectors as opposed to the logistics of supplying and accounting for who knows how many variants of the same harness. I would have thought commonality of parts between versions would easily trump the savings in materials.

It makes sense to have variations in the wiring harnesses if there is enough volume of each configuration and enough differences between the variants. There are only a few option configurations on the Genesis. Having a wiring harness for each of these configurations might make sense.

Seems odd as the Genesis is a relatively low volume vehicle and common wiring would seem to make sense? ...but it's obviously cheaper to have different harnesses or they wouldn't have done this!

Here is a new listing for the Fog Lamps with DRL. http://cyon7.com/genesis_sedan2015_led_fog.html. A must have tool Lisle 56500 Wire Terminal Tool for removing pin.

Those are just the OEM LED foglights - nothing special with respect to DRL's. Also, they don't function as DRL's on any factory Genesis. You would have to wire them to function that way.

These are also way more expensive than other options ($557 including shipping). I got mine here for much less - $410 with shipping (and there are even cheaper options on eBAy):

I suspect the 3.8L and 5.0L may have different harnesses. The connectors in the front of the 3.8L may be for front parking assist sensors or some other feature that is on the ultimate.

I have a 3.8 Ultimate - it's fully loaded (parking sensors, headlight washers, etc.,) but still has some covered connectors upfront that do not appear to be plugged into anything.

There goes my theory. Maybe when it gets warmer out I'll attempt to trace the wiring and see where it goes.

Wow this thread grew fast!!!
So I'm guessing installing LED foglights on US spec 3.8 RWD and AWD works?
To make it work... what do I need?
Thanks

There are two ways to wire the fog lights I help someone in my naborhood to in stall a harness we made with double relays for the fog light headlight and high beam control the least expensive way. we used one of the unused fuse terminals in the engine compartment fuse box and used a 7 amp breaker in between the lighted rocker switch and relay one swith by headlight on . when the highs are on relay two the fogs are off just like factory . relay three switches the power from the lighted rocker to the fog lights this is controled be a mini tap into a 10 amp spare located in the dirivers side fuse panel the enable relay turn on with engine running. the total cost of the project with the ebay fog no cutting needed was 510 dollars. It took 4 hours to wire and test . the other way I used the wiring that was there and a multi meter and voltage probe to check the circuit . the stalk I got form hyundai mobis those connectors you have to test each one one pin is a feedback pin used to illuminate the fog indicator on the dash you can use the first method I talk about and use a tap wire to the pin to illuminate the fog indicator on the dash . the wy i did it using the wire there was more exspensive both way will work. I am an electronic engineer

I just ordered my 3.8 Htrac Ultimate and ordered the fog lights from ebay. Can I just wire them to a space in the fuse box that has power when the car is running? I want them on all the time. My 2012 Mercedes E350 fog lights are always on and I like it that way.

I was also thinking about this one but there was a warning in the manual stating that turning on the fog light for a long period of time which your option is to always run it will drain the battery fast.

That is weird because LED's usually don't draw a lot......

Seems like the opposite. People are spending hundreds of dollars on lights and installing them without wiring because the stock car doesnt support it

There is no doubt that they will work but not with a factory look or application. You must improvise.....
