The only thing holding me back from purchasing a new 3.8 AWD (Ultimate) Genesis is this silly driving light issue. I just do NOT understand why other models like the Sonata have them...the Canadian Genesis gets them but the US Ultimate package does not??? I don't think anybody buying a Genesis with the Ultimate package really cares about the incremental cost to include the driving lights.
That said...from what I could tell in reading the forum on this topic is that no one as of yet has successfully installed the driving lights using the factory stalk to control them...is that correct? I'll just buy and add them - but I want it to match the factory setup.

You meant that no one has installed fog light control stalk?
If so that's correct, first it will add a lot the labor cost, also I spoke with dealership tech manager who programmed the FOB card for me about this.
I wanted to install 5.0 left control stalk, he told me that the wiring is completely different and it won't fit as is, need to rewire the all lighting system, also I asked if I can fit the Canadian model control stalk, he told me the same thing. I don't know if it's true regarding the Canadian models , but he told that the fittings are located differently and also the how the stalk attached to the steering
wheel. It's too much labor and as soon you start to play with the wires a lot of things can go wrong, because the ECU is designed for this specific wiring and if some other type of wiring comes it can fail.
Don't know how much true is there, I am not electrician.
Also I wanted to change the DRL to the LED which is the wrap around and leave the yellow for turn signal only, he didn't have much time to look closely, but told me that if it's possible to do just switching the wires then it's OK, but if the wires needs to be cut, or splice , didn't recommend to do this, as it something happens, can void my warranty.
I didn't have a time, but I will bring the car to electrician to see if it can be done just to switch the wires.
I asked if would be possible that the fog light wiring is already installed, as I saw fuse for fog lights, he told me it's not wired , the fuse could be there but it doesn't mean that the wires are.
I just want to confirm how much and if there is difference from Canadian models for the left control stalk, and go from there.
The DRL change would be easy if just need to switch the wires.
But to run original wiring could be very costly.
