  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

As I get closer to a decision, I'm starting to consider color options. I really like the way the car looks in black, but I know that it'll be tough to keep clean. I've also seen the sedan in sapphire blue: it looked great, but was almost as dark as the black one.

I like the way the Genesis looks in cabernet red in pictures, though so far I haven't been able to see one live. My question to those of you who have one is "How hard is it to keep clean?"

Thanks.

Red is the classiest color they have and it absolutely pops in the sunlight. It is a major attention getter.
The red is not as easy as white to keep clean but it's a lot easier than black!

I get a lot of compliments on the red color. It was the only color I even considered. Looks great in the sun but it does show dirt, not as bad as a dark blue or black but more than white or silver. When it is clean and polished it really pops.

The red is gorgeous and very rare. Almost as nice as Sterling Blue.

Saphire Blue here with Simoniz Glass coat ($600) verdict still out but car looks awesome except for birdy greeting on third day, which required special attention. Average 21.5 MPG with no special driving, in fact I am still playing, better mileage than my V-6 Ford Taurus which almost never hit 20 MPG.

I have a Cab Red Genesis and while not quite as bad as black is still tough to keep clean. Its a great color for the car IMO.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I guess I'm going to have to look for myself, if I can find a red Genesis within a reasonable distance. Something about having a rare color on a car that you don't see very often (around here, at any rate) appeals to me.

I have the cabernet red...and LOVE it. The metallic sparkles in the sunlight... When it is cloudy the paint looks glossy and flat. It has dual personalities.

Not bad to keep clean...the back end gets dust - like any other car.

I might buy a red, but I have got to have a black interior. I think this is a hard color combo to get. My dealer here says he can't get one.

I choose interior first. - Must be black, and then choose exterior color.

For 2011 red is only available with the cashmere. I wanted red with black leather and had no desire for cashmere. When I got my 2010 last June, I searched the entire data base for the eastern part of the US from Chicago to New Orleans and east and there was not one to be had. I emailed a moderator at the Hyundai Think Tank and about 2 weeks later they found one coming into port on the ship from Korea. They quarantined the car and shipped it to the dealer for me. The Maroney sticker even had my name on it as the ship to. Pretty cool. I used a combination of the Costco program and the Hyundai Circle program to complete the purchase and paid for the car before it even arrived at the dealer. Went real smooth. I am very happy.

I didn't notice that cashmere was the only choice for '11 before. Looks like it's that way with several exterior colors (both shades of blue + champagne beige). I would have preferred a black interior, but cashmere will look good too, I think.

Check out the movie Inception when it comes out on blu-ray/dvd next week. The red Genesis is featured prominently.

Mine has black interior from 2009. I wish I had the cashmere interior....but at the time all I had was a choice of black. Still love the red.

Cabernet Red here with Cashmere interior.

Red is great. Not that bad to keep clean at all. After crapy midwest rains it is dirty on the lower half of car (normal).
