  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Front License Plate

Or maybe you could use those unused front license plates to fabricate air intakes -

Now that's out-of-the box thinking....

Hi guys, does this look normal? I'm looking at buying a used genesis and this seemed a bit odd to me. I asked the dealership to send me a photo of it so I could upload it here.

Personally, i'd rather not have a license plate in front but I think it's required in texas....

Are those holes normal or did some horrible person drill holes into this car?

That is normal. However - i would flip the bracket over and lower it. You can put plugs in old holes. I will post pix later when I get home.

Sorry - I meant to post this a few days ago...

It's not perfect, but it's a lot better than stock.

In my opinion it's perfect.

Does anyone know what the screw size is for mounting the plate to the bracket? Hyundai took off the plates before sending to auction...they took the screws too!

I think these are standard. Go to any Auto Parts store. They'll have 'em.

I don't know for sure, but it might be that US cars use standard SAE sizes, and foreign cars use metric sizes. I believe that the Genesis uses metric sizes for all the bolts, etc.

Do you want my bracket with the screws? I used a Jeep bracket and the screws that came with it.

Hit Lowes up and found a 8 pack of screws for $1.86. Fit perfectly.

What is the fine like for not having one in California? Here in Texas, it's $200 per violation. In the major metro areas, police have other more pressing matters so you're usually not ticketed. That situation changes everywhere else. State Troopers are very clear on this matter. The frontal plate is used as a flat surface (where these are lacking on more modern cars) for shining their lidar guns at. Heck, they even made plates even shinier in 2012 for this purpose.

bump...

Size of screw I'm using:
Hex Washer Slotted Zinc coated
#10 x 1/2 inch

Does anyone know where the front license plate bracket is located (when not installed) in the car?
Could not find it in the trunk

Mine was put on by the dealer from the parts department, not from the car. Only 31 states need them so I guess they don't ship with every car.

My front license bracket came in a sealed plastic bag in the trunk. And it's now in my office, still in the sealed plastic bag where it will stay, permanently. :)

We bought our 2015 Genesis in September 2018 as a cpo, and I still have not received the California license plates. I got the registration and stickers but 6 months later and still no plates. They must be way behind cranking out license plates.

Where exactly it was? I only have a spare wheel and this set of tools on top of it.
