  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just brought my 2021 G70 3.3T to dealer for first complimentary service (~7200 miles). Some bright spots, some not so much:
The good:
1) Service only took about an hour and a half, including complimentary hand wash. oil change, multi point check, rotated tires.
2) From check in to check out I was happy with the customer service, very professional.

The meh:
1) service valet or whatever you want to call it is broken. I used the dealers website, nothing was available for months, come to think of it I stopped looking into February 2022
2) tried to schedule with the chat feature on dealer website, said they’d reach me by phone or email to confirm. Nothing for 5 days.
3) Ended up calling the dealer and thankfully they had a cancellation so I got in the next day. Otherwise they said it was typically a 3-4 week wait for appointment.
4) Dealer does not offer and didn’t have a loaner for drop off appointment. Said due to low amount of vehicles available, but I call BS. There’s a ton of new GV80s, G70s, G80s. I was really surprised how full their lot was.

So I’m not overly disappointed, but not what I was expecting. My wife drives a BMW and I get a new 330i anytime I get an oil change as a loaner.

Another item to note was the service advisor stated I should get my oil changed every 3000 miles. When I set up my car on the my genesis site, I’m pretty sure it stated 7500 miles for my driving conditions. But my car started beeping at 6000 miles, so who knows. He also stated I can get as many 3000 mile oil changes possible in the first 3 years/36k miles, so why not. Thought I recalled some threads in here where that was not the case, so any insights would be great.

Absolutely love the car, no issues to report. Like I told the service guy, only thing it’s missing is a sportier exhaust note. Still lurking and researching JB4…

Better double check that your tires were NOT rotated because they are different sizes.

I bought my 2021 as a loaner vehicle from a local dealer. It had 2400 miles on it and they recently did an oil change. So now i'm really stumped as to when I should take it in for service. I've seen every 3k, 6k, 7.5k. Which is it??

Side to side “rotation” only front and back, and yes it would be nice to know for sure. I suppose since the advisor told me and even put a sticker to bring it in another 3000 miles I’ll go with it.

The telephone is still the best way to schedule an appointment. There have been other complaints about trying to us apps and web sites. Just pick up the phone for the best deal.

Service advisors around the world what to get you in at 3000 miles no matter the driving conditions. So do many of the oil change shops. You can manually set the alert yourself. I've not counted the number of oil changes but I know it is at least twice a year but I don't drive as much the past couple of years.

As for the valet, many dealers don't have enough cars available for it. They can't just give you any one on the lot. Seems to be worse since covid and even getting drivers to do the swaps for valet service. My dealer has always offered.

Yep, all good points. I typically do most minor maintenance myself over the years, but figure I might as well take advantage of the perk.

Yes, they can be rotated side to side

Oil change timing is easy. Look in the manual for what they recommend for YOUR driving situation.

If you made your living selling oil changes you may try to sell shorter intervals.

Kind of surprised that there are so many GV80s available considering the demand.

Genesis recommends and will pay for (for the the first 36,000 miles) to have your car with the 3.3T serviced every 3000 miles. If they will pay for it why would you do anything else?

I traded in a 2019 430 Xdrive coupe BMW coupe in Los Angeles for a 2022 G70 3.3t and I went to BMW service three weeks ago and they didn’t have a loaner. To get a loaner you had to schedule three weeks ahead. So apples to apples you scheduled an appointment the day before. Also BMW is struggling in service with parts due to the pandemic. Talked to A service advisor they are waiting weeks for parts when needed whereas before it was days.

I was stumped and actually a little upset. I brought my 2022 G70 3.3T for its first service at 5,400 miles and I was told that it needs to be every 3,000 for an oil change (I told them to put full synthetic). With my honda and my previous G70 I brought them both in every 5,000 miles. The question I have is since they want 3,000 miles and I went over 2,400 miles from the recommended service, did I do any damage to the twin turbos? I'm a STICKLER for maintenance and the last thing I'd do is damage my baby. Am I okay this time around for going over a bit for the first oil change? I will be definitely coming up every 3k from here on out. I do drive a lot and I drive her pretty spiritly lol.

Similar situation. Have a '22 G70 with 1,100 miles and wondered about first service visit. Called the Hunai/Genesis shop and spoke with their Genesis service rep. He recommended 4 - 5,000 miles for first visit and volunteered the drop off/ loaner benefit.

youre fine.

just go off what your car tells you. between the car and the mygenesis app/website, it tells you when you should get your oil changed due to your driving style

Are you folks daft? Genesis will pay to have your car serviced every 3000 miles. It does not cost you a cent, why would you accept anything less?????

I’m amazed how dealers want an appointment, and can’t take you in for weeks! CRAZY. (My Buick dealer is like that). No wonder so many people use “Quicky Lube” places. They take you right away.
Dealer appointments don’t mean a thing. You get there on time (or earlier) and you still have to wait before they ever get your car in. I never make appointments. With all my Sonatas, Kia’s, Toyotas and all my previous cars. I just get up early and am waiting at dealer when Service opens. I’ve NEVER been refused service yet. If and when a dealer refuses me service, no appointment, I’ll switch to another nearby dealer. Plenty in the area.
If worse comes to worse, I’ll pick up an OEM Oil Filter from dealer parts, and take car to “Quicky Lube”. (I normally carry an OEM Oil Filter and OEM Air Filter with me as I’m often in an area with no dealers of my car brand. IE, no Genesis or Kia dealers at my third Roswell NM location, although they do have a Hyundai dealer).

Years ago, nobody ever heard of appointments for service. I’m old, from the old school.

I'm not getting up early for an oil change. My dealer has always given me a 9 o'clock appointment within a week. I'm in at 9, out by 10:15.

Lucky.

I hate “appointments”. Who’s the customer, them or me?? What happens if you are traveling and want an oil change? You’re already busy “vacationing” and want it when you want it. I’ve never had problems getting service by just driving in. No appointment. NEVER BEEN REFUSED. Done this with all my cars, various brands, both here in Central Florida, my second location in Western NY and in my third location in Roswell NM.

So you show up unannounced and they take you in. That puts the scheduled appointments for that bay behind. Fair?

If it was my shop, I'd fit you in if I could but if I had commitments to other customers, you'd be turned away.

If they can’t accommodate me, they should not be in business.
WHO IS THE CUSTOMER?

I bet you would not be my customer. If I could accommodate you I would but I'd not make someone else wait if I had a full schedule. Commitment matters.
