  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm surprised that I was unable to find an existing thread for this.

I'm leasing a 2019 G70 3.3T RWD and for that reason I have no intentions of doing any mods at all...except that pathetic horn! It almost sound like a worn out Clown horn. The night I leased the vehicle and the salesman used the horn button on the key fob to find the car I said "Please tell me that's NOT the horn for the G70". Do they all sound like they are sourced from some old tiny European Micro car manufacturer and have been sitting on a shelf for 5 decades or is it just the horn on my particular vehicle? It's not like I make frequent use of a horn, however, in my heavily congested area there are times when it is needed. With the sound of this horn I could end up creating accidents if I use it. I have visions of drivers uncontrollably laughing hysterically at the sound and veering off the road.

Do the horns for the G80 or G90 sound better AND can they simply be plugged into a G70 or is there a better solution?

Did you ever tried the horn? The one that sounds when you press the center of the steering wheel? What you heard was the sound you get when you press the panic button which completely different to the sound emitted by the car's horn.

Well, I could have sworn that I did, but obviously I did not. I know I've been avoiding using it because of how it sounds when using the fob. Yes, sounding the horn from the steering wheel results in a proper horn sound. Thanks for your reply.

Don’t think I’ve used the horn on either car for at least a year. The use of diligent patience, active cruise and increased awareness have for me made it as useful as an ashtray (I don’t smoke). Speaking of course from an old timer’s point of view. So I still don't know what is sounds like. Don't care.

I've used my G70's horn once....and it was out of spite. Haha. 🤫

I've never used mine.

Almost every day for me. Worst f’ing drivers in the USA here.

Ha! I can just imagine you aggressively rippin' through traffic with all that power! Like your on a mission from God. :ROFLMAO:

No...not at all. Just simply stupid clueless drivers is all.

When Hyundai did the Sonata redesign in 2011, the horn was so weak, there was a running joke that they'd stolen the horns off of every scooter in South Korea. It was pathetic. I did change ours out. Don't use the horn much, but it is a safety device. It should work. By that, I don't mean just function by making some lame beep, but actually alert other drivers of a possible accident.download.webp

I had a 2009 Genesis V8. (Motor Trend Car Of The Year). Had the same weak horn. Remotely activated it on a parking lot. It was a joke. I guess they still have not fixed it.

i use mine almost daily. Vancity drivers are epic. but the horn is no worse or better than the last few cars i've owned. i have no problem with it, other than wanting more of everything in general. would i like it to be reminiscent of a freight train? sure, who wouldn't. but i'm fine with it as it is.

I go months not using the horn. Does it actually change things for you or just relieve frustration?

didn't read the whole thread so apologies if someone already stated it, but the panic horn is only the high pitched horn, it isn't both the low and high as when you actually use the horn.. I suspect it is because of noise laws regarding unattended car alarms.

the G80 horn is decent when used to get someone's attention.. however, with my new commute through the idiocy of the downtown freeways of los angeles I am looking to upgrade to some level of air/train horn.

Agreed. But I have to admit that I would love to have a train horn to use on my commute to work in Toronto. Rush hour traffic started hear started 10 years ago and never stopped.

Genesis needs to seriously consider having a Gatling Gun mounted to the hood as part of a Appocaliptic Sport Option trim.
