If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 Lease Comparisons and Discussion (USA)

@FornicatorSteve , you seem to be running into more problems than we have seen any one member have. Along the lines of what @Mcc said, I would suggest a little different tactic in your email research/negotiations. You can still keep it up in the air as to whether you will be buying or leasing but it should get the exact details of each.

In your emails to the dealers, explain that you will be using Circle A but are undecided about purchasing/leasing so you will need the numbers for each. Tell them you want to see the price for the vehicle after Circle A and dealer discount as well as any applicable fees listed in detail and then for the purchase option you need the available incentives/finance rate and for the lease option the MF,RV, lease fees, lease cash and any other incentives.

Doing the above should get you everything you need as well give you the ability to negotiate the sales price and eliminate their ability to play games with hidden numbers.

I should have spelled it out better before visiting. There was a long thread of messages before that point where I spelled out everything and forwarded them communications from circle A.

It seems with the last two dealers, even though the communications were recent, that the person responsible for that number was "no longer with the dealership" when I ask them to recreate that figure.

It's also a huge pain to get them to send over any quotes, though I have been using Google voice vs. an email as the responses seem quicker as I'm basically texting/im-ing them on my computer and phone.

I've always felt as though physical presence in the dealer had a large away (Mainly because they try to get me to come in), but I'd prefer everything done over the computer anyways. I know it'll need to be like that if I reach out of state.

Explain more about the balloon lease option. I have talked to a dealer who mentioned that. Said vehicle would not have to be re-titled from the finance company to my name. It would be in my name from the beginning. Does the dealer still hit you up with various fees specifically done on leases or do some of those go away with the balloon option? I also want to pay my own taxes and registration fees to do away with any dealer BS registration fees.

Please see my post in this thread.

Decided to inquire out of state with Genesis of Jersey City.

They said they would match Ruach's deal.

Unfortunately, the only sport they had on the lot miraculously sold yesterday after them agreeing to the pricing.

At the very least, I don't think the dealer was BSing you with agreeing with the pricing and coincidentally selling that car. If they don't have the intent to sell at that price, they wouldn't just lead you on until they get another car. More likely is that they'd pull another case of "new fees once you invest the time to drive all the way down".

Legitimately, if I drive/fly 1700 miles and they BS me like that, I'm walking into the ocean to find MH-370.

Based in Florida. I think there's a few more in the state I can go to, but I've been to just about every one in Central Florida.

What’s your experience been with the west coast FL (Tampa region) dealers?

Haven't dealt with any down there.

Been to/dealt with:
Universal Genesis
Headquarters Genesis
Genesis of Orlando
Genesis of Central Florida
North Orlando Genesis
Jenkins Genesis of Ocala
Parks Genesis of Gainesville
Genesis of St. Augustine

Then I've also been in contact with a dealership in Tennessee, one in North Aurora IL, and Jersey City NJ.

If I am looking at this correctly then there is one of your cars, Elite Prestige Sport 3.3, 2WD, Mallorca Blue in Fayetteville and Cary NC. Fayetteville seems an unusual place to try to sell a 50k$ car but what do I know. I believe these have gray interior.

Quoting myself here.

Called that dealership again. Well. The car was in stock, never had a deposit or anything on it. It's in their showroom. The person I called is seeing if they can match it. Might be flying up this week.

Another dealer side, Parks Genesis of Gainesville. Drove to them after I sent them the quotes and they said they could match or beat it. Before making the trip, I asked that they had spoken to their manager and wanted to see if they definitely could match/beat. They told me "we've got some good news for you, come in and we're sure you'll be happy".

Came in. Gave them the numbers. 6 minutes later "yeah. We can't come close to those numbers".

Good thing I was near town instead of Orlando for that. Still, BS tactic.

Why go without getting something in writing? Don’t you feel silly?

I don't mean to make this sound personal but at this point I would have to think it is something with your communication style/negotiation tactic that is causing these problems. No member here has run into so many problems. Hopefully all works out with the NJ dealer.

I kinda knew ahead of time with this one, but I wanted to cross them off my list for certain.

They had laughed when I was there two years ago looking for a used 2015 Genesis Sedan for under $23k. I found one 3 months later for 21 OTD with taxes, title, fees etc.

I think it's the deal I'm trying to get being damn near at a loss for the dealer. Most of them only take maybe 4% off MSRP before incentives and I'm asking for 12.5 to 14%.

I think if I were fine with a standard deal, or even a pretty good deal, it wouldn't be an issue.

But I'm after a really good deal, so, I'm bound to have a lot of rejection.

The only issue is a few of these Central Florida dealers are a bit on the scammy side and desperate for business so they'll do anything to get someone in.

The problem is a dealer can make it seem like you got a really good deal, but you don’t know everything. You may find out down the down the road you didn’t get what you thought you were getting. If you want to make it a win/lose situation you may find yourself on the wrong side of the equation. You might consider a different tack.

I'm figuring the $559/mo for 15k/36 mo on an AWD would be objectively better than $568-$675 (in state quote ranges so far) for a 10k/36 on a RWD.

I'm trying to be as "base-level" on the numbers as I can (i.e everything being calculated the same up front, 0 down, 1st months being D.A.S) to make sure I'm making an even comparison. And I'm only comparing the single sport trim level, so there's a ~$300-$400 MSRP difference (port installed options).

I'm just doing the best I can to get a good deal. Not desperate for it, I don't need a car, but if I can get into a Sport trim at a reasonable price, then I'm all for it. For that I'm elastic. I don't really mind spreading out my inquiries; one dealer may want to sell one.

Although, after all this back and forth and doing research and inquiring with corporate about how certain programs worth, it's not worth arguing with one dealer over how they're handling circle-A or leasing or any of that. I think that was my pitfall in just wanting to prove them wrong when they were.

As far as approach goes, I've tried beating around the bush to find out what dealers are willing to discount, I've tried being up front about everything available to me, I've tried coming in with printed communications from corporate to back up my claims, and I've tried to have them match or beat other offers. Not really sure what other options I have as far as that goes, but I'd be receptive to advice.

I guess the question is, what do you consider is a reasonable price and does the dealer consider that reasonable also. The dealer would like to sell the car, but you have to acknowledge that he is not desperate to do so. Deals that are too good to be true usually aren’t.

My answer so far has been 11-14% off MSRP before any incentives, and so far the dealers I've visited have not, save for this one in NJ (13.7%).

The range I've gotten so far has been 2% - 5% off MSRP (whilst holding on to incentives and the special money factor).

At least for the dealers near me, there seems to be a reason why pretty much all the same cars have been on their lots since February.

Not in a rush, and I'm not going to be crushed if it never happens. Not like it's an appreciating asset. But, if I can get it on lease for a price I'm comfortable paying, then I'll be happy. I could be in that range in a 2.0 or a lower trim 3.3T, but that's not what I'm after.

Circle A should get you to a little over 8% off MSRP, and still give you Lease Cash and low MF. You gotta ask yourself if all the time, tolls and miles you're spending chasing those extra 3% are worth it. If you have a trade, a dealer wanting to make a sale should be able to throw a little more $ on top of it, potentially bridging that 3% difference.

I don't remember seeing too many deals here at 10%+ off...there's probably a reason for that. Just because a dealer in the NYC metro (not the most honest or up front locale) area did it once, doesn't mean others will, or that even that dealer will again (imagine how pissed you'll be flying to NYC just to find out you've been hoodwinked again).

If you want the car, save yourself the stress and frustration of trying to find this unicorn deal. That being said, from your experience, it sounds like FL is a terrible place to deal with Genesis, so maybe try one state over.
