  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 Lips, Tails and Skirts

This topic has quite possibly the best title for a thread I've seen on this board.

A few pics of my new addition, if anyone is interested in seeing rear spoiler with Mallorca Blue.
CoconutRob, my spoiler just came in. i notice the 3m tape on there is pretty thin. did you just go with that and how did that work? or did you add your own thicker tape? Thanks.

Yes I just used the 3m tape that came on the spoiler. Cleaned and prime the area first. My opinion thicker more teeth would leave a gap
I have not had any issues. Solid

ok i guess i'll just use the tape that came with it. my only concern is that when I put the spoiler on the car, it seemed like the sides of the spoiler did not even touch the car. did you notice this as well? if so, I assume you had to really push down hard on the spoiler during install. is this correct?

Definitely clean the area first. I would get some 3M Adhesion Promoter as well.
It's not required but I Guarantee that it won't come off then.

How much of a gap? Mine fit very well and I used the supplied tape.I did use more painters tape to hold it down while setting and left it on there for a good 12 hours .

Same. Mine had no gap and would sit on the trunk perfectly when I was just eyeballing how it would look before install. No extra pressure required to get the sides down and secured

Exactly. I was surprised how well it actually sat on the deck lid compared to other spoilers I’ve installed. The addled little plastic guides for the sides was a nice touch.

Yup, same with mine. Perfect, solid fit. I also took it off a few months later and it was on there good. Took a LOT of time to remove it.
Is it safe to use 3m adhesive promoter on car paint? I've heard varying answers.

I don't know but there was cleaning wipes included in my kit. I used them.

Used it several times on pieces for my 07 and 14 Mustangs. Had to remove the chin spoiler on the 07 due to getting hit with something in the road. No issue with the underlying paint, just a pain to get completely off.
The warning is that since surfaces and paint formulations vary, you should verify through testing. How you would actually test is any ones guess, but I don't think you'll have issues with factory paint, at least I didn't.
Guess it just depends on how comfortable you are with the application. I always use it but you have to decide.

ok thanks guys. I think i'll try the primer at least on the ends of the spoiler since those areas are most likely to loosen over time. Have a great week/weekend! Cheers!

For those of you who already have a trunk lip/spoiler installed, I need a favor! What are the dimensions?
Doesn't have to be super accurate. Just trying to see If I have enough vinyl at home to wrap the whole thing before it arrives.
I would just measure the length of the trunk to ball park it but my car is in the shop for god knows how long. RIP
See thread here if you want lol

After you stick the spoiler clean trunk around the spoiler where primer spilled over.

Funny you say this, I was literally going to do the same thing to mine when it arrives. I ordered the M&S Spoiler from the Genesisowners Store. Hoping it's here by tomorrow, as I plan on wrapping in it gloss black.
