  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 maintenance schedule?

I haven't received an email or notification in my app.
Anyone have the number to call (Canada) to schedule the maintenance?
I reached out to the sales rep and a while ago, but never heard back.
Try 866-999-9895

Your GXM is supposed to introduce you to your Parts Manager and Service Manager or they are supposed to reach out to you after you take delivery!
Did you get a call from Genesis Canada a few weeks after you bought your car and get asked those questions by the CS rep?
I got emails from both the Parts Manager and Service Manager and they both made it a point to come introduce themselves to me in person when I went in for my winter wheels!

^ i got the same thing. follow up from Genesis CS and personal calls/emails from the service manager.

Thank you sir.
Gave them a call and they were super easy to deal with. Took down my info and availability in less than 2 minutes.
A service manager is supposed to call me back - let's see how this goes.

Having bought their demo vehicle, I'm not getting the Five-Star treatment. I've come to expect that I'll miss out on a few things(delivery, gift card, welcome package, etc), but none of the above service and details was provided to me (and I didn't even know that would be the procedure).
I'm learning more and more about other things I'm missing out on. Also my direct contact hasn't cared to respond either.

So did you pay the used finance rates or the Genesis finance rate of 1.9% for it?

I am paying a higher rate than 1.9%.
Are you hinting that I deserve the used market, less than the Five-Start service? :p

No I'm wondering if they reserve the white glove treatment for those who buy new.
I'm paying 0.9%.
I almost bought a demo but with the interest rate at that time which was 3.24%, it ended up costing more than buying new!

I didn't expect the glass box delivery and gift cards, etc...however I was promised the full-fat service.
The numbers worked out in my favour even with a higher rate, more money down, etc given their asking price. Only reason I jumped on it, otherwise a demo was never on my radar.

One thing worth noting is that the Canadian scheduled maintenance includes full synthetic oil, not conventional.

I have yet to see a new car released by any major automaker in recent years that doesn't stipulate FULL synthetic oil changes. I know Hyundai was still doing synthetic blend/conventional up to 2014 per my wife's Tuscon. But Lexus (Toyota), Audi, BMW, Benz, etc. all have been using full synthetic for many many years with higher mileage/km interval changes. My 2014 Toyota FR-S was 7,500 mile changes. My 2015 Corolla was 10,000 mile changes.

IMO if your USA Genesis dealer says they're going to put in conventional or even synthetic blend, I'd be very wary. If the Genesis OEM doesn't call for full synthetic engine oil in these engines, I'd be truly astounded.

^ my dealer confirmed they use Shell synthetic. There is actually a sticker by the hood latch (when you pop the hood)...that is what they use.

You can be astounded, Genesis OEM is synthetic blend not full synthetic. That is why the oil changes are done more often.

^ not in CAD. the OE factory oil fill is Shell Helix Ultra, which is full ester synthetic. OCI is 1 year or 10k kms. that doesn't seem like 'more often' to me.

all complimentary services include fully synthetic oils as well, presumably equivalent spec to factory.

This is what my dealer told me (US). My dealer at least uses Quaker State only, semi synthetic

I will have to find the reference but I'm almost 100% sure it it synthetic blend. Actually 10kms is quite often in my opinion for full synthetic. Most I have seen are around the 10k-15k miles.

I found a bunch of posts concerning the 3.3t in the G80 and using synthetic blend but even though they probably are the same I looked for the G70 3.3t information. Keep in mind though, we are not talking abut what a specific dealer is using but rather the OEM specifications.

Attached are the specs for the engine oil and for the 3.3t is should be ACEA A5 or above. There is a footnote that says if that is not available then you can use API SM & ILSAC GF4 and above.

The other two attachments show info on two synthetic blend oils from Castrol and Quaker State that meet or exceed those specifications. Am I misunderstanding the ratings/specifications?

^ i wrote this in another thread:

the 2.0T lists ACEA A3 among its relevant specifications (3.3T is A5). the Pennzoil Plat Euro blend meets this, and i grabbed a bunch of 5W40 last weekend while on sale at 45% off.

i also picked up OEM filters at Hyundai after doing research on the topic. these are very substantial feeling filters make in Korea under a MANN license. i am glad to see the size of the G70 filters. much larger than the thimble filters on my Infiniti.

in CAD, my dealer specs fully synthetic 0W30 as part of their planned maintenance. my 'free' oil changes correspond to the colder months so i ma fine with that viscosity. i will offset that in the warmer months with 5W40 which is spec'd in the Owner's Manual for warmer temps.

On my last Hyundai, everyone on the forum highly praised the Hyundai filters and said they are much better than any aftermarket ones so I always stuck with theirs. I imagine genesis would be the same, and it’s awesome to hear

^ yup, Genesis filters = Hyundai. same box, same filter, same colour, same spec, everything. i haven't looked underhood but i expect i'd see a blue spin on filter.

Quick FYI...talked to 2 service managers. Genesis wants them to use 0W30 FULLY synthetic...and that's what they are doing. Hyundai uses a synthetic blend. So don't let anyone tell you otherwise :)
