If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 road trip range

I like driving in Eco. It's the only mode that lets you feel the turbo spooling up before it drops a gear and gives you power. Old school turbo feel!
Much more fun with the JB4 and Eco!

I don’t what you guys use, but I use an app called Fuelly; every time I gas up, I enter my odometer miles, the price per gallon and the gallons filled.

I’ve done that for my last three cars, and it gives me a great look at true MPG.
How do you find the car's reported fuel economy compares to actual calculated by the app?

Too early to tell. I do mostly highway miles in Eco, but throw it in Sport on back roads quite a bit. Averaging about 24 mpg so far... When I look down on the highway, I'm averaging a good 28-29 though. That's not a lot worse than the MINI I traded for the G70!

I hear that!

I usually get about 17-18 mpg when I'm just driving to/from work, as I'm not using the freeway anymore. Tons of stop signs and stop lights along the way, plus traffic.

After several months of ownership I finally discovered what this "kickdown" switch in the gas pedal was that everyone was talking about. Funny to think how the car still rockets off without even depressing to that point. Needless to say my gas mileage is going to suffer going forward 🚀

From my experience with my prior Genesis Ultimate and my Santa Fe they were/are about 1 ½ MPG more optimistic than the actual calculated reading at the pump. The G70 appears to be the same. Don’t know about you guys but that’s close enough for me considering all the variations on the drive. Generally, the mileage is slightly better the Genesis Ultimate I had and I was pleased with that.

Compared with my old 2016 Genesis with a 3.8 NA engine my G70 is doing about 2-3 MPG less in both city and highway.

I never drive in Eco; drive in Comfort or Sport most; and on highway seem to regularly average over 28 mph thus far.
Driving to work is combination city and highway and average usually about 24 - 26 (depending on traffic).

Yep, this is pretty much what I see in Chicago traffic commutes. I've only had it for 3 weeks, but when I'm *really* driving like a grandma in Eco or Comfort modes, I'll average about 19-20 city. But when I drive like one must in Chicago traffic, around 16. I haven't yet done any road trips over an hour, but did see around 27 which isn't bad IMO. End of July I have a road trip to Detroit and back, so I'll get to see how true highway driving mpg and highway range goes. If I can honestly and consistently get 27-28 mpg in 80 mph highway driving, I'd be satisfied with that. City driving, a bit harder to swallow at 16 mpg. But fact is, this car is fun. Powerful. Unique. Did I say POWERFUL? I'm ok with a few mpg lower than hoped for city driving. The fun factor is just too . . . fun!

I've posted some screenshots in other threads, I can toss my hat with what others have already mentioned. Steady freeway (tested over 100's of miles) gets me 27 mpg going a steady 77mph. But that number drops sharply, when driving city, in Sport mode, in stop and go, etc.

Had my first out of town trip and went 280 miles, 37 miles of which in town, 2100 feet elevation change up then same down, 2L auto, 33.4 mpg indicated and 31.4 actual. Comfort and AC the whole way.

Damn I was happy with 29.7 actual mpg.
Never have got to stretch the drive as far as you. Looking forward seeing that kind of number in the future. I'm just amazed at this car and what it's capable of.

I have a decent commute, about 36 miles. It's about 80% hwy, 20% city driving and I avg 27 mpg in ECO, 26 mpg in Comfort/my custom setup, and 25.4 mpg in sport. For me, that 1 or 2 mpg I'm losing for sport isn't too bad because I write off all gas as a business expense.

edited to add: I have a 3.3t Rwd advanced

also, just took a roadtrip for a wedding last month, 500 miles each way from Houston, TX to Purvis, MS. I averaged about 25 mpg, 99% hwy, but I was pushing above 100mph for almost half the trip, and I almost never dipped below 80-85.

Just curious at that speed how long did each leg of the trip take?

Ok, so without any stops and traffic it would take an estimated 6.5 hrs. First leg of the trip, I was going mostly 80-85 because I was worried about police and I got there in 8 hours. That includes stops for gas, and about an hour stop for food. This leg averaged out about 27.4 mpg from what I remember. Second leg of the trip, I was driving back in a convoy with other people. This one lady led the pack in her truck going really fast above 110 a lot of the way. Me and this other car were staying "relatively" closeby going from 95-105. That leg took about 6 hours, we only stopped for gas this time. I think the exact mpg was 24.8 or 24.9.

So far, have had it for nearly 4 months and have done 7500 miles out of my 15000 mile lease

edit: on the first leg there was also a point where we just stopped on this long af bridge (atchafalaya bridge) for about 30 mins because of a traffic jam. Actually met a few friends going to the wedding from on that bridge and that's where we first formed that convoy.

It's amazing you can get such mileage at such speeds.
Impressive.

Keep in mind that's mostly hwy mileage, city mileage is pretty bad. On drives less than 1 or 2 miles I'll avg like 15mpg. Clearly the car loves to go fast:cool:

i think a lot of it has to do with the car being able to maintain whatever speed you want with very little throttle input. Even at 80-85mph, you barely have to give it any gas to maintain speed on a flat road

@kikaniparth Welcome to the forum and good luck on not going over miles on that lease. Looks like you made the right color choice ;)

Thanks! The dealership I went to had a 3.3t sport in this color on their showroom, fell in love with the car and color on first sight.

Also, definitely agree on getting good mileage out of the car, this car is a cruiser at 80-85
