  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 Spark Plugs

Hello everyone,
NGK sent me SILZKR8E9G rather than the SILZKR8H9G. It doesn't seem like they have the 8H in stock. Would the 8E not work with the 2.0T?

Hey Hey everyone, just changed out plugs in my 2019 G70 2.0T. Did a test run and The car now stutters under any full throttle attempt. Feels like it pulled the timing or closed off the throttle body.

I bought plugs from the dealer. They gave me Part#18877 09085. These were different than what was originally installed. My OG spark plugs are NGK SILZKE8H9G and use a 5/8 spark plug adapter. The new plugs used a 9/16.

I used 18 ft/lbs of torque, pre-gapped. Are these the right plugs?

Thanks in advance.

For the 2.0T: Source: Kia Stinger - Specifications - Engine Electrical System Same engine.

And if you want to pay extra $$ for the packaging to say Hyundai or Kia, look up OEM part number 18849 09085.
Do these (SILZKR8H9G) exist / is it an OEM specific spark plug? I can't find anything online, the closest I found was this (SILZKR8E9G) but not sure if it's the same - anyone know?
Anyone got aftermarket suggestions for a stock 2.0 or will I be forced to buy from the dealer

That is the OEM plug.

FWIW, we have been running ILKR9Q7G in our 2.0T with no problem. It is one step colder in heat range than OEM but works just fine with map 0 (stock), which is what we run 99% of the time. Maybe if you live way up in the frozen Canadia tundra and run stock map 0, that might be an issue.

Hey guys just got my JB4 have yet to install. Can I run stock plugs with map 1, I just changed plugs about 4000 miles ago don’t want to replace if I don’t need to. Should I regap them when I install the JB4?

I am running MAP 1 but did change plugs to the recommended set and gapped to 24 thousands as a precaution. My stock plugs had 9,000 miles on them.
You may be ok but the only way to find out would be to submit a data log to the jb4 forums.

If you change plugs I found it easier to unbolt the throttle body and lay it to the side without disconecting the wiring, of course you have to disconnect the inlet hose to the throttle body as well. Made it much easier to get to the hard to reach plugs on the passenger side. Used a swivel spark plug socket availalbe on Amazon. Not a terrible job with the throttle body out of the way.
