  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 Spark Plugs

I paid $130 all in (plus plug cost from BMS). Best decision EVER.

I could have done it...nah. I would have screwed something up.

Find a mechanic dude...trust me.
Did you find an independent mechanic or a chain one?

Local small chain
Which sparkplug do you run? I'm torn between hks and densos. I've read threads with ppl having issues with hks vuz it's "too cold" and densos work fine with jb4 and actually lasts longer

HKS is a better plug. But you usually only need it if you have an ecu tune

I've been planning to get a used jb4, not sure where to look but I'll search around. Not gonna do anything crazy like mixing fuel so I'll stick to like map 3 or 4. But even then I heard hks is too much for that amount of power. I'm leaning towards the ngk m43il or denso 5346

Map 3 and 4 require fuel mix

Map2 is plenty. I run map0 for normal driving on public roads and only switch to map1 for track events. I bought my two JB4s both second hand for cheap and it's worth it just to run map1 when I need to.

I've got a E85 station 3 miles from my house so it's super convenient. I have added some just prior to AutoX in the middle of July/Aug, but I don't bother with it most of the time.

Dope thanks for clarifying. I have denso plugs and I'm ready to get that jb4! Where did you source yours? And can I ask what the hp and tq increase is on map1 and map2?

Here's some dyno results for the 2.0T. 2.0t MT Dyno'd JB4

For 3.3T, you can find even more dyno graphs with some quick searches.

Personally, I use JB4 to lessen the effect of turbo lag while running the track. Not really all that concerned with actual HP/TQ gains.

To help with that I've been searching for a pedal commander. Doesn't use obd so jb4 can use it, and yea everyone says they're not power increase and it's just the feeling fast, but shit why not?

For me, I prefer a linear pedal feel - both accelerator and brake. For track runs, this is an absolute must, especially when you are going through slaloms, chicanes, sweepers, etc., where being able to modulate fine throttle adjustments precisely are essential to carry the most speed through those sections. Goal is to push the car to the very edge of available traction, while feeding in just enough throttle or brake to hold it there, depending on what the immediate section of the track calls for. With exaggerated and/or progressive pedal-to-throttle mapping, this can be rather difficult.

Same applies to brakes, but that's somewhat off-topic in the context of this thread.

That said, it all depends on how you drive and what you want out of the car. If it works for you... that's what matters.

Ahh I gotcha. Do you know btw if any of the pedal "tunes" like pedal commander or windboost have ability to change gas pedal reistance/feel? Or does it just change the throttle

I don't pay too much attention to that space, but from what I've see, they are all software mapping only. I doubt you will find any that changes anything mechanical.

Hello everyone,

After reading through this thread, I am still confused about what the OEM spark plugs for a 2.0t would be.
Could someone clarify which manufacturer (NGK or Denso), part #, gapping, and torque specs for the 2.0t engine's spark plugs are?

Thank you!

For the 2.0T: Source: https://www.kstinger.com/specifications-412.html Same engine.

Spark Plug
Item
Specification
Type
SILZKR8H9G
Gap
0.8 - 0.9 mm
(0.0314 - 0.0354 in.)
Electrode Material
Iridium

And if you want to pay extra $$ for the packaging to say Hyundai or Kia, look up OEM part number 18849 09085.

forget if i already said this in this thread, but i have no JB4 and heard bad things about Denso. i bought M45iL plugs and did not touch the gap and they currently run great. so for the record, M45iL plugs can be run with no tune!

Did you notice the car running better over the stock plugs?
