  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

I am not sure why you say Houston is not a port for new vehicles. A quick google search shows that many automakers import cars into the Houston area, either port of Houston or nearby ports in Galveston, Freeport, Bayport, etc.

*shrug* I stand corrected.

The storage area you are talking about may not only be for autos that entered via the Houston area ports. They could also be for autos that came to Houston by rail, either imported elsewhere or made in the USA or Mexico, so I can see why you thought that.

Alrighty...so I did some digging. I actually spoke with Yuval Steiman who is the Senior Group Manager of Product Planning. Yeah...took forever...but figured out how to talk with him :) No...not sharing.

So...no cars at any port. He said if there were...it would be a shock to him. He knows both the price and when it is coming out...I could not for the life of me pry it out of him. Started talking car talk, etc, etc, etc. Then I tried again...he laughed...but no info. He said summer...just like we all know. Price...I told him my guestimate at $54,600 USD. He kinda laughed. He said that they should be able to better that. So that is the only info I got out of him really.

He has driven one in S. Korea...loved it. There is one in the lobby of the California office...so he walks by it every day. So if anyone is near the Hyundai headquarters...go check it out !!!

Lastly...he was able to order one already...obviously. So ordered the top trim Mallorca Blue.

Really nice guy...but lips are tighter than a nun's twot.

Thanks for letting us know! This is admittedly self-serving but if you talk to him again can you inquire about the 2.0T Sport? Obviously not pricing but if the LSD is standard and if ventilated seats can be an option?

For all of us, is there a definitive list of color choices?

So your guestimate is for a 3.3 awd loaded? And what did you read by him saying they could do better, better for them higher price or lower price better for us? My guestimate is 56k loaded 3.3 awd.

Better for us...so perhaps lower. And yes...loaded 3.3T AWD.

USA also gets the same 5 spoke rims.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
For 1.7k more I can get a G80 Sport. I don't see it being that high.
Sure thing. A G80 3.3T RWD is selling for $56400. IMHO selling a G70 3.3T for that price has no sense.

Well...summer could be July 1st and up to the first day of Fall, which is September 22nd, 2018. I'm hoping its sooner than later and they come with the missing features that got cut from the Stinger. I really feel like any new car today at the 40K+ level should include: 360 camera, wireless charging, mobile phone support and heated rear seats.

I'm still saying a loaded G70 will be right around the 48-49k range. Just wait and see. Base stripped down 2.0 will be starting at the 32-33k range, sport is 36k and the Elite(one above the sport?..which I'm mostly interested in) will be at around 38-39k.

Interesting. It will be about 6k (or possibly more) more than the Stinger (whatever that is).

No way. How can it be cheaper than a loaded Stinger? The G70 is a better car...and Genesis is a “luxury” brand. Don’t forget the included maintenance.

I'm sticking with 55- 56k

My guess: 53K, fully optioned 3.3T.

Beefer, thanks for doing the detective work and reporting back to us. Sounds like pricing has been set. Next major sign should be the cars appearing in the dealers' allocation systems, I would think.

If they can come in close to $50K for a fully loaded 3.3 Sport, I think they'll sell some cars. If they can come in lower than that, I know they'll sell a bunch. At a price in the high $40s for a well-equipped car, plenty of people will roll the dice and accept the uncertainties of a new model. And once that happens, word-of-mouth will get more people interested. Frankly, I'd be surprised if they go that route and price that aggressively, but it would be a very smart move if they did. If they can generate some buzz with these 2019s and get units on the road, they can pump up prices in subsequent years. If these intro units don't sell well, they could be in trouble.

Still, I'm guessing something more in the neighborhood of about $52,000 for the loaded 3.3 Sport. Also, they'd be smart to set MSRP relatively close to what the dealers have to pay rather than substantially above the dealer's actual cost. That would narrow the range of "deals" people get and would be a way of coming a bit closer to a fixed-price model, which I think is better suited to a premium brand. The Casablancan street-market haggling model isn't all that attractive to customers in this segment and everyone knowing that there isn't much negotiating room from MSRP would negate that. It would also allow the MSRP to be set lower, obviously. We'll see within the next couple of months, I guess.

Yep that's exactly what I was thinking. I am however curious now what google search terms you used to find out which cars listed Houston as port of entry. That's actually some impressive googling skills. When I tried it I kept getting hits for import dealerships, etc.

Fiat uses Houston, as does VW. GM exports there. No idea about Hyundai.
Port Houston receives first automobile shipment at former Bayport Cruise Terminal

Failed Bayport cruise terminal gets new life with auto imports

My (questionable) dealer just told me cars are at the Port and are waiting to be released. He's probably just saying that but let's pray he's correct.
