  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

Maybe I'll get some hate for this post, but I really hope not...

I've been particularly quiet lately and feeling annoyed about the lack of 2019 data from HMG. I made a list of the cars I could potentially see myself owning, plus ones in what felt like "close enough" segment competitors to the Stinger and G70, then built a small table which informs me about which companies have made the best sales/marketing efforts in relation to my interests...

There were only 4 measurements:
a) how many cars does the parent company make which I find interesting
b) can I see what the 2019 model looks like through corporate or third party media
c) have they published an official price
d) can I build one on their website

An 'efficiency' score of 1 is the maximum and means the company seemingly coordinates marketing well (from my perspective!). I.E.- Parent company X makes two cars I like, both have photos out, but only one is configurable on their website and has a price...
photos (+2)
price is known (+1 out of a possible 2)
build on website (+1 out of a possible 2)
highest possible points = 6
actual published data points = 4
efficiency = .66 (66%)

To re-state, this was just a thought exercise to see if the way I've been feeling had any objective data. Based on the cars I'm interested in (and a few in closely related segments) this is what I can figure in the simplest of terms which company seems to market their cars 'best'. I'm only one guy, and not all of these cars are in the same segment...they are only competing for my interest! If you do not happen to like the same cars I do, then this data won't mean as much. It also may not be fair to judge a parent company based on the child companies, since I'm not sure how much one has influence on the other...but when broken out by specific car company, the data was fairly consistent (and saved me from posting a larger pic).

Cars which made my list:
Acura TLX, Alfa Romeo Giulia Ti Sport, Audi S5, RS3, BMW M2, 4 series, Cadillac CTS-V, Chevrolet Camaro 1SS, Stingray, Dodge Challenger SRT, Ford Mustang Bullit, Shelby GT350, Genesis G70 Sport, Honda Civic Type R, Infiniti Q60, Jaguar F-Type, Kia Stinger, Lexus RC-F, Mazda MX-5 Miata RF, 6, Mercedes AMG C43, Nissan 370Z, GT-R, Porsche 718, Subaru WRX, WRX-STI, Subaru BRZ, Toyota 86, Volkswagen Arteon, Volvo S60.

Please feel free to poke holes, but I ask for you to be constructive in the process..! :)

The data may be interesting from a marketing point, but did it sway you one way or the other on considerations? We all have different triggers that make us buy or not. We all have different needs and looking at the list you chose, I'd have to eliminate many of them as unsuitable. Putting needs aside, most of the list is "oh hell yes, I'd like to drive that" Is that how you made the list?

Interesting, but would not sway me one way or the other.

I just feel like it’s kind of a broken scale. Some of these cars are released and others aren’t, which obviously effects their scores. If there’s no consistency between them, what good are the numbers?

Not hating, I just don’t see the point.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Sorry to burst a few bubbles here, but there’s no way the G70 sport will undercut the top end Stinger. Count on $55k.
I guess we'll see. They try to make it a point not to compare to the Stinger and a G80 Sport is only 55k. Seems like poor judgment to have them priced the same.

I'm thinking around 53000. Realistically though, it's still such a better deal than everything else that I wouldn't really be too upset if it cost more than that.

I don't think the Stinger really sells for anywhere close to MSRP in the real world.
This. The Stinger is priced too high in my opinion which is why people are getting huge discounts on them. No one pays MSRP from what it seems. Should just go to Stinger forum and look at what people are paying.

I have to say this...I have driven them all. S4, S5, M3 (better...only performance wise), C43 AMG, Q50 RS, etc.

This is it. I’m getting on the wagon before the rest of the peeps realize it...and pricing goes up in subsequent years. First year model...I don’t care. I have driven it. Crazy ride. Nuff said.

With the G80 Sport AWD at $57k, I don’t see why it’s so unrealistic. The G70 is a LOT smaller than the G80 and also drops quite a few luxury features. I’m expecting $47-50k, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they priced it aggressively less than that to build more sales. The problem is that very few still even know who Genesis is, so their biggest issue is still building the brand. They could build a lot of ground by pricing it in the $45k instead of the $50k realm.

Let’s face it...even if it was $55k...f’ing steal compared to the competition.

It will come under that...deal of the decade.
At that price I would buy the G80 Sport. I'm betting the G70 sport will be $51k at the most.

My thinking has always been between the top Stinger price and the G80 Sport price.

No way it’s below 50. Slightly more than 52 is my take.

Curious...what luxury features is it dropping?

I thought it was pretty loaded. Dunno.

Btw...just wanted to add...I saw a G80 Sport at my barber shop a week ago. The thing was stunning. Quality all around...got me all excited about the G70. What a car. The G70 is the same caliber. Laser fitted joints. The thing is perfection. Tight joints and seals...crazy for the price point.

These are just some that come in mind now. Panoramic sunroof, ambient lights, LED all around, illuminated door sill plates, interior decked out with carbon fiber trim and black microfiber suede headliner, multimedia system with touchscreen and manual knob, adjustable headrests and overall much much room everywhere.

I agree. The G80 Sport is a beautiful car. If the G70 didn’t exist I’d be tempted, but I’d prefer smaller car. My Elantra is 178x 70; G70 is 184 x 73; G80 is 197 x 75...I’m not even sure the G80 would fit in the garage.
