  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

What are the chances the US will get this wheel that was specced on the Korean model? I'm not loving the Canadian choices... but I LOVE this wheel! Elegant with Sport appeal!

^ FYI - those 10 spoke wheels are standard on certain trims in Canada - just not the Sport - so i'm sure they'll cross the border as well. this is very frustrating since many agree, myself included, that either this should be the standard Sport rim OR we are given a choice for rims. the dark 5 spoke Sport rims are not everyone's cup of tea and they do not suit certain colours. the 10 spoke rims go with any colour G70.

those 10 spoke rims were on the auto show Sport trims as well as the featured rim on the Genesis website configurator. it was not a happy surprise to see the switch to the dark 5 spoke Sport rims...which came after CAD folks had placed their pre-order deposit.

Good catch there canucklehead604! Taking a closer look, they have that wheel specced on the 2.0 Prestige only. Other non-sport models get the double 10-spoke (20 spokes); which look ok, but not great to me. I'm really excited to see what gets offered in the US.

GarnetTy1473, are there any hints in the G70 Parts Catalog for US?

There are at least 2 distinct groups of people who want the larger engine. a) Sports car enthusiasts b) Luxury/performance car enthusiasts. Obviously the wheel they specced for the Sport (high spec 3.3) model aims for the sports car enthusiast. That completely leaves out the luxury/performance enthusiast! It's too bad they don't offer a 3.3 Prestige trim. If the same gets offered in the US, I'd be tempted to step down to the 2.0 Prestige to get those wheels with all the luxury options. Not a good move Genesis!

Wonder if he is able to see if any G70 allocations have been added to his dealer.
I don't have access, but once we do, they would tell me. We were the #1 Genesis selling dealer in the central region (181 dealers) last year, so we can't wait to get the G70.

Catalog is pretty vague. Shows the split 10 spoke, or 20 spoke, is only available in an 18". The 19", gives me 2 different part numbers for the front and rear, but doesn't tell me what the difference is.

Staggered rims...probably the difference.

Thanks for this! Since the 10-spoke alloy (prestige) and the 5-spoke sport are both staggered sizes, one might expect 4 part numbers for the 19" rim... Hmm

There are laws in most US states to prohibit manufacturer's from owning dealerships. I don't believe there is any federal restriction.

And this is unfortunate and very old fashioned imo. It is like telling Apple they can't sell products direct to a customer, they have to sell through a retailers like Best Buy. Obviously they do both and they should have that choice.

And why in Canada is the HUD and surround view camera only available on the 3.3t sport? Will this translate to the US? I really don't want to spend thousands of dollars more for a sport package I don't need or like in order to get these two features. Also those Michelin pilot sport 4 tires are great if you want to track the car, but will never get up to temperature in day to day driving to be of any benefit for the cost.

Politics. Strong car dealer lobbys in state legislatures in my opinion.

I totally agree with you. But these are old boys clubs that need to die.

Dealerships need more competition, and not from each other. If manufacturers could suddenly sell direct in every state, the dealerships would have to actually work hard to prove their worth and to actually provide value. I think they lost that a long time ago and like mentioned only worry about doc fees and other crazy mark ups. Seriously, where else do you pay ~$500 for someone to write up your invoice???

The Prestige 2.0 has those features if I remember right.

For a new automobile company, I agree with you. But it is a little more complicated for existing automobile brands. Dealers have to invest 10-20 million in building a dealership.

According to Florida law we can't negotiate it because is applied to every buyer as equal (in some dealers they even have it preprinted on stamps), what we can do is trying to negociate the sales car price $1000 down to mitigate the outrageous doc fee.

Car lobby in FL has some really goo laws they have had passed to protect dealers and price gouge consumers

Those laws in FL are actually to protect consumers, since many older customers were getting ripped off with huge fees. It's not a simple as it might appear.

Manufacturers are not prohibited from forcing dealers to sell their cars at a fixed price (specified by the manufacturer) in most states I know about. Saturn (part of GM) did that, and some others have tried it, but gone back to dealers setting their own prices.

There is the ATS.
While technically right, I have no desire to drive an ats, from the overall design to dealing with cue, the g70 has it beat in my book, especially with the warranty.

I'm surprised by the weight of the g70 though. From what I can tell it's basically the same weight as a g37?

My understanding is CUE has been vastly improved.

I don't want to go too far off topic but I appreciate the physical knobs and buttons that genesis has put on the g70.

I just wish that they would get their act together and make it available for sale.

Ha, yup, really, the thing is shipping in Canada, what is the hold up in the states now that they said all Hyundai dealers can sell them.
