Believe me when I say we use a lot of salt on the roads during the winter here, mixed with snow causes a very salty water bath for the rotors a million times more corrosive than any salt spray the ocean can produce. Our roads are like this for at least 4 to 6 months of the year and it causes no ill affect on brake rotors. PS: my father's Genesis has endured this salt water bath for the past 6 years, with his Genesis sitting outside all year long and his brakes and his car are still rust free.

You are correct about salt on roads. But having lived on the Florida east coast, I know that salt spray damages cars. I don't care what you say.

There were some reports a few years ago about rusty disk rotors on brand new Genesis cars, and I am just saying I would prefer to not buy a car that has been sitting out in the open near the ocean for 3 months. What you do with your money is your business.

So far, information has come from the press, and from Hyundai dealers who attended the meetings with HMA to discuss Genesis dealerships. The press gets some of their information from official HMA sources, and probably some off the record.

As to the exact timetable, it takes a while to negotiate franchise licenses with the new Genesis dealers, which I am estimating to be about 150. As has been the case before, Genesis Motors has underestimated the steps needed and the time needed to get the new dealer network off the ground, but that is nothing new. I suspect it will be another 1-2 months before the G70 hits dealers, and then maybe only the ones who have finalized their Genesis Motors franchise agreement with HMA.

Inventory at port has never been the problem. It has been the new Genesis Motors dealership agreements that has been the delay, because they decided that only the new dealers can sell the 2019 models (unless they changed their minds on that). Several dealers have said that Is why there is a delay.

As for tires, I am definitely going with Nokian Hakkapelitta 9's

I have had the studded 7's and 8's on numerous vehicles and they are excellent tires. Their non studded ones are great as well and I have had good luck with Michelin X-Ice's as well. But I prefer the studded for our long cold winters up here

I'm a little surprised they do not have some kind of social media "representative" whose purpose is to respond on sites like this and make people feel more comfortable moving forward. We have already seen a handful of people say they are going to pass on the G70 bc of how things are unfolding. Surely they know about this website. I imagine they even read it from time to time. It would be in their best interest to have some kind of communication. This way they can attempt to control the narrative, keep potential buyers somewhat informed, and not have people turn on the brand.

I have often wondered why there is no official representation on this site? I would think that they would want to have an official voice on the many issues being addressed here. Has administration every inquired of Hyundai?

There are also potential problems. Someone will be asking for favors or intervention with a warranty issue. The person may be expected to give information they are not privy to or allowed to divulge. Should they give wrong information, that would cause another problem.

The old Hyundai Think Tank was run by Hyundai and closely monitored so that worked OK.

Exactly. I don't see any issues so long as the person is there in an official capacity. Meaning someone who works directly for Genesis and whose job it is to keep people informed, answer appropriate questions, etc.

I could pretty much guarantee that they have an individual (or more) who monitors these websites. It would be foolish not to.

The approximate launch date was communicated to dealers, and even to people who called Genesis Motors customer service, and original target date will not be met, and not because of lack of cars at port of entry. We know why the launch date has been delayed, and it is because of the Genesis dealer selection fiasco.

If you think Genesis Motors can get off the hook simply because there was no "official" launch date, you are mistaken.

Your excuses remind me of the Judge in the movie The Verdict starring Paul Newman.

I am pretty sure that the VIN number, EPA certification, and a lot of other related stuff is based on model year, and too late to change that.

Plus, they don't like to introduce cars in same year as the model year, always at least December of the previous year.

You don’t know anything for sure. How could you less you have official info from Genesis. Do you?
All you know is repeating what others said they heard in some vague terms. So even if you do trust what other repeat, from what date was it delayed from and please quote the source and date as I did.
