  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

#3 of 4 press releases up to the launch.

Genesis Newsroom

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., July 5, 2018 – The 2019 Genesis G70 is engineered to put drivers first offering customers the same, industry-leading levels of safety, customer service and technological advancements found across the Genesis lineup. G70 is the third Genesis model in a lineup consistently recognized for excellence in quality and the ownership experience.

Safety

Like all Genesis vehicles, the G70 offers an unparalleled level of standard active- and passive-safety equipment, surpassing the competition. These include advanced driver assistance systems such as Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Blind-Spot Collision Warning, Lane Keeping Assist and Driver Attention Warning. The G70 was designed to meet the highest safety standards, just like the G80 and G90 sedans.

Customer Service

G70 offers a class-exclusive, no-cost, consumer-focused program that elevates the luxury vehicle ownership experience: a collection of concierge services that exceeds the near-luxury level benchmark. From valet service appointments scheduled using the Genesis mobile app, to complimentary maintenance and Genesis Connected Services, the Genesis experience provides owners market-leading convenience and time savings...

Great! But for the love of god...pricing...

$35k-$57k. It's going to be more than it's lesser brother (Stinger) and less than it's older brother (G80).

Not confirmed... More of an educated guess. However, I was within $500 of the lowest and top trim levels of the Stinger. Supporting evidence is with the Stinger and G80. I'm pretty close.

Cheers

Ok, this part of the 3rd press release is the coolest to me...

Technology
To complete the total ownership experience, every G70 model will come standard with Genesis Connected Services. Advanced telematics include technology like Destination Search powered by Voice, Car Finder, Enhanced Roadside Assistance and Stolen Vehicle Recovery. With a complimentary three-year subscription, Genesis Connected Services further enhances assurance for drivers and passengers, with SOS Emergency & Automatic Collision Notification.
When combining the power of Genesis Connected Services and an Amazon Alexa-enabled device, the G70 offers remote voice control, performing tasks including Remote Door Lock/Unlock and Remote Start with a specified interior temperature. Genesis Connected Services can also easily be accessed from the controls located on the vehicle’s center stack, the rearview mirror, the internet through the MyGenesisUSA.com website or via the smartphone/smartwatch app exclusive to Genesis owners. Genesis Intelligent Assistant adds another degree of seamless connectivity, sending notifications and recommendations ahead of the drive, delivering point-of-interest navigation directly to G70, and providing a vehicle health report on demand.

Alexa...start my G70 and set the temperature to 68 degrees, and tune to Sirius XM 26.

Now when is it coming out? I want one already!!!!

As much as I hate to add more speculation to this thread, the first press release was on June 11th, the second was June 28th, and the most recent one was yesterday, July 5th. Noting the difference in spacing between the 1st and 2nd, and 2nd and 3rd, it could mean something...

Like what?

Possibly that the 4th isn't too far behind, and release could be sooner than this entire thread estimates. A long shot? Yes, but 90% of this thread is estimating and speculation.

Ah, like the 4th post will happen the week of the 9th and include pricing and availability and I'll have my car by August 1st. :0

So...spoke with National Consumer Affairs dude that has reached out to me...which happened after I spoke with Y. Steiman.

He did not know any pricing. That has not been shared with staff yet.

Fourth press release is happening this week. Forget about pricing. Perhaps a bit more info about a release date.

As for the release date...he is estimating that dealers might start getting cars Sept 1. They are working State by State to figure out (or iron out) all the issues. Apparently a few States could sell the G70 right now. He would not tell me which ones. All the States have agreed to hold off and wait for all to be cleared. I guess if one State would start selling now...that would piss way too many people off.

I did ask about the USA vs Canada version of the car...he did not know. I did ask about the top USA trim...and whether you can get all the options...but minus the "appearance" package if you will (5-spoke dark rims, smoked out metal, etc). He is going to inquire and get back to me...if he is allowed to even share that info.

That is all I got. Stay tuned.

Can we buy this at Hyundai dealers or not? I'm not looking to get pampered, but if I need to drive a couple hours for sales/service, I'm probably going to have to write Genesis off. I have zero interest in the concierge concept...

Not every Hyundai dealer will sell Genesis. Some already do not by choice.

Is the rollout for the G70 going to be more mass market and is there good sales potential for this kind of car in the US? Sonata seems to be a slow seller compared to past years. The US consumer gets excited about mediocre crossovers while the award winning Accord has disappointing sales. Something isn't right.

I hope they have some good lease deals to spur sales of this new model.

I spoke to the local Genesis / Hyundai branded dealer and they indicated late September availability. I asked if they are building a stand alone Genesis facility and he said not at this time. This dealer already has a Genesis branded website etc. My other local dealer told me they will not be selling the G70 although they do sell the G80 and G90. Both dealerships are owned by the same company. I have owned my 2013 Genesis Couple since new and have been very happy. Prior to the Genesis I had a Sonata as a daily driver and did not have issues. Recently I have had to use the dealer for some issues with bad body welds on my Genesis, the issues are being resolved but it has been a chore to get them to take care of them. No to poor follow up, I have had to take in twice now for same issues even though I provided pictures of the issues. Bottom line is I was looking forward to a step up dealer experience with the G70 which does not sound like it is going to happen any time soon.

Unless things have changed, the G70 will only be available at Hyundai dealerships that will be going ahead w/ a separate Genesis store.

Until those Genesis dealerships are built/up and running, it will be business as usual.

While I would like to some great deals on the G70 too, I highly doubt there will be any. I expect they're going to have horrible lease deals for the first couple of months since it is a brand new car. Plus, add to the fact that there is limited distribution because of the dealer network issues, those dealers that do have the cars will jack their prices up. Maybe even as much as 10K just like the Stinger when it first came out. If there are any deals, it will be springtime before they show up. When the car is finally released, I bet there are better deals on the Stingers to keep volume moving. But I wonder what the numbers look like for buying sports sedans in the fall/winter?

The Stinger is selling around 1500 units a month in USA. Kia have a huge cash lease incentive on the Stinger ($6000 and more depending on the trim) but Genesis has a different way of thinking, they were selling around the same amount of G80 (around 1500 monthly) as the Stinger but now they are offering just $1500 cash lease and the sells plummet to 786 in April, 840 in May and just 642 in June. If the continue with these sales strategy with the G70. I won't see any good future for Genesis in USA.
